Welcome aboard!

There's quite a few good recipes in the Low Carb Recipes link on the orange bar.

Not following a specific LC plan - at least initially - is usually a mistake. All of the plans have been developed with a great deal of effort to make then a packaged whole. If you just wing it then you probably will not get the best results and you may doing some things that are not in the best interest of your health.

You might get lucky - the initial six pounds might mean that you happen to have struck on a combination that works for you or it may just be the diuretic effect that any LC diet has on most people.

If you don't want to commit to a plan right now, I would recommend reading several of the books thoroughly so that you can make informed decisions and not neglect things inadvertently and I would also recommend adopting a specific plan if you find your weight loss stalling.

Best of luck and keep up the good work.
