Question Yes that thyroid and soy thing again...

I've been arguing with a friend who is roughly the same weight I am and is on a vegetarian diet. She eats a lot of soy. I cringe every time she is accountable to me (thought I bet she cringes at what I eat). We both started dieting recently. Me not so much for weight loss (diabetes is causing me to have bladder and digestive issues as well as being high - 400) My friend is not diabetic.

ok so here is my question. Does soy affect the thyroid at all? I have Hirshimoto's thyroid and half my thyroid is inert. I moved three years ago and my new doctor doesn't believe me. (How can a hospital who was my doctor for 17 years lose my records?!) She tests me and says my thyroid is fine. Sigh.
Needless to say, I know I am right. But does soy only effect thyroid meds?
thanks
PS I do use Coconut oil all the time.
