GaryW, intellectually I know that you're right. I have read DANDR and seen enough positive results from people on this site that I know low-carb has been proven effective. But I am fighting years of establishment brainwashing and that means that I doubt the facts in front of me because they contradict "what everyone knows." I plan to be with this for the long haul & the med check in a couple of months will just be to put my mind at ease.

BTW, this helps me with the grammar question: "affect" means "influence" and "effect" means "result." So it is, "How will this affect me?" because you could also ask, "How will this influence me?" It doesn't work every time, but that's okay because no one's grammar is perfect.
