whereas many in the forum seem to consider flax seeds as completley carb free. in austria it has 6 g carbs per 100 g, which is written on the label of packed pure flax seed and that is not so exremely low in carbs.

is it possible that different countries believe in different carb percentages of the same food?

greetings, the duck

hi there Duck,

According to the Flax Council of Canada, the nutrient profile of 100g of flaxseed is:
Protein 21g
Fat 42g
Dietary Fibre 28g
Carbohydrate 6g
Other(water, ash) 3g

So yes, there are 6g net carbs in 100g of flaxseed. The thing is .. 100g is a huge portion ... 3½ oz. For most people, ½ to 1 oz is considered a serving (15 - 30g). The carbs for a 30g serving is 1.8g net, which makes it an acceptable choice for a low-carb menu.
