I can't believe it! After our beloved GP retired, it took a year, and three tries, to find a new one. But he's a keeper. He's been doing low carb, which he calls keto, for seven years.

It can help if we look for a "functional medicine practitioner." I asked around at the hospital, explaining my husband and I had rare, little-understood conditions, and we were having no luck finding anyone on our own. I explained we needed "someone who would work with us."

Both DH and I are thrilled with his approach. He recognized the advancements DH had made with our new Sarah Myhill protocol (UK doctor who specializes in CFS/ME) and he was open about my own challenges.

There is one on this list which is close to me but has the reputation for charging around $5,000 for initial work-up then a lot of reviews said they were all put on the same replacement hormones. I read reviews last year about it. One lady I know went there, then later ended up with cancer.

It doesn't help that I actually met the head doctor of this practice as he actually tried to cut in line in front of me at a small gift shop. He actually said to me "Do you know who I am"? The gift shop owner and I were in shock at his arrogance. So, he's out! LOLOL

Dr Hyman's practice, The UltraWellness Center, is about an hour away from me. I know he also works at the Cleveland Clinic where I am sure he must take insurance but his practice in western Mass is only for the very well heeled, which isn't me, and accepts no insurance.

It is kind of a boutique thing, I guess. Though many of these doctors do have podcasts and books, too.

DH is the one who really needs a doctor. I'm hoping I 'll just need the usual moving forward: tetanus shot up to date now.

From what I have figured out, to get the treatments we are looking for, holistic, insurance wont cover much. My VERY expensive insurance wont cover HRT. They ok,d the surgery but NOT the replacement hormones. Seems they refuse treatments and tests to keep more money in their pocket. Insurance companies are a business, out to make money.

My family in Germany can see doctors and get services for free. Just because they live there.

Renewal for our policy is coming up. We are looking at a very basic coverage instead and use the "extra" for out of pocket expenses.

Each time I track down a holistic doc, they have upgraded their clientel. And no longer available to a pion.

What kind of HRT? You can get real (not artificial, which is dangerous) estrogen and progesterone cream for that "extra" maybe?

yes, IF i can find a doc that recognizes the value. Ive been to the best hospitals in MA and all those docs are in the dark ages. Those docs will only write scripts for the artificial ones. All idiots.

I know! But you can buy actual estrogen & progesterone cream online and figure out dosage yourself. It has to be rubbed in, that's all.
