Hi!

Hi folks,

Newbie here. Just started Keto and looking to lose about 30lbs - already lost about 10lbs from my starting weight. Looking to learn lots from each of you!

My first issue that I’ve been dealing with is since my third week on Keto, my blood pressure has been elevated. Mine has always been below 120 but is now all over the place and my average is now 137/85!

I’m hoping it’s just an electrolyte imbalance however blood work on Monday says my blood serum levels are normal. I can tell you I’m not getting the daily calcium, magnesium, potassium or sodium levels Keto’ers recommend.

Any thoughts folks?

welcome - that's an interesting reaction in BP - mine lowered very quickly from slightly above average. Perhaps someone else here has had the same reaction. What kind of a blood pressure device to you use?

Where are you getting your information here "... I can tell you I’m not getting the daily calcium, magnesium, potassium or sodium levels Keto’ers recommend."

Hi and welcome! There’s a wealth of valuable info here. Also take a look at dietdoctorcom. There is a ton of free gold to be mined there as well. Good luck on your journey. Enjoy the ride.

Hello, and welcome, Justbry. You seem to be off to a great start.

Your question sounds like a medical question, however, and I wouldn't look for answers on a forum like this. You might check with your local urgent care or walk-in clinic if you continue to worry.

Meanwhile, be sure you're getting enough salt because of the extra water you may be taking in and putting out.

Best wishes.

I log all food intake via Cronometer and it shows me how much of each of those I’m getting.

Ah I see, I guess what I was asking is more in the vein of what "Keto'ers" are describing the levels of calcium, magnesium, potassium and sodium you should be ingesting on a daily basis (or weekly or whatever) - mostly curious on sources.

Cotonpal here uses Cronometer I think - she also has paid attention to macronutrients, or at least more than I. She probably has some good, sound, sources for comparison.

How, when and with what are you taking your blood pressure readings. Were you doing this before your change in diet?
