surely thyroid dysfunction?

My temp is 97.1 and it's 1:37 in the afternoon.

Im at a normal weight...
  1. I eat 1600-2000 calories to lose weight
  2. i've never been overweight
  3. i DO have a history of anorexia
  4. i exercise daily--burning 600-800 calories a day

So, my question is...without having the tests done (no insurance at the moment) is the temp indicative of hypothyroidism?

I have been following a low carb diet (30-40 net carbs) for only about 5-6 weeks and I am afraid that IF I am hypo then it will make it worse.

Please enlighten me!!

I've just been recently looking into this issue and came across this interesting site:

and this site claims that low 98s in the afternoon may indicate hypothyroidism:

and adrenal issues:

If you're concerned about the effects of low carb on thyroid resistance:

That should be enough to enable you to enlighten yourself - as, ultimately, we all must.

Certain things can cause high RT3 (which can cause hypothyroid symptoms). Low calorie dieting and extreme amounts of aerobic exercise is one. I see women here all the time stalling and exercising like crazy. I remember Lyle McDonald discussing that and how "hamster wheeling" is bad for weight loss. Creating RT3 is how the body handles starvation. I'd do resistance training rather than aerobic, other than, perhaps, a brisk walk everyday.

You might have a thyroid, or adrenal, issue. Something to look into. I can't really tell you how to fix it, but the links Greg posted should get you started.
