new way to eat

I've recently given up meat after doing some research on the horrendous conditions in which animals are treated, raised, and slaughtered. I do eat fish, milk and eggs. Although I would like to continue this lifestyle, I wonder if I am capable of eliminating these items from my diet for the long term. Not just due to taste, but more so out of boredom from not having much to choose from to eat! Does anyone else feel this way?

Some people can handle it, some can't. I became veg around 2 years ago, and now I have a hard time eating meat even if I WANT to! I can eat maybe a few bites a month, but that's it. Like you, I do eat seafood now, but because of mercury contamination and destructive fishing methods I avoid it for the most part.

A really good book to read on vegetarianism, that can help to keep you motivated, is Eating Animals, by Jonathan Safran Foer. I've read lots of veg books, but this one is by far the best.

Good luck!

Thank you. I will try and stay motivated and any information, such as books, etc., I can gather in the process will probably help.

I've just finished reading Eating Animals. Thanks for the recommendation...it was very interesting!

I would have also been interested in reading the book.

In the UK Jamie Oliver has set up a campaigne for chicken welfare, making consumers aware of the atrocious breeding conditions. It has worked as a major food retailer does no longer offer caged chickens for sale.

You could probably go out to some vegan restaurants and go check out the dishes they make . Try looking for some healthy and delicious vegan recipes and make them at home according to your liking . Going vegan is really good and very healthy as well .
