Day 3 excited to be LC

Hello all, I am on day 3 of Induction. I have spent the last few years eating very high carb and attempting to manage my weight, unsuccessfully, with an IF plan that worked for me back in 2014. Enough. I am ready to really give this LC thing the college try as a permanent way of eating.

I’m 47 and 5’5” with roughly 60 lbs to lose. I would really like to have some online friends on this journey so please add me if you like.

I am totally new to LC and also to cooking. The learning curve seems steep, but luckily I am not working right now so I have time to invest in my health journey. I have an 8yo son and I want to be as active with him as I can. Just got back from downhill skiing for the first time in 25 years. I did great, was happy to find I could still do it, but my weight really bummed me out on the slopes. Hopefully, I will be in better place by next winter.

I am loving all the tips and recipes on this forum. I am eager to try so many, but have to wait until OWL for most. I am planning on trying the oopsie rolls and a homemade marinara tomorrow as the ingredients seem compatible with Induction.

Welcome Shelia,

This is a great forum for information and support. You may want to start a journal or join a buddy group or challenge for instant on-line LC friends. Look around all the various sub-forums for help. There is a looong thread on IF under diabetes: https://forum.lowcarber.org/showthread.php?t=472377
The recipes here are great, also check https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/recipes and filter recipes to "only Keto" or induction level carbs. You also do not have to move up the "ladder" to OWL, many of us stay at induction levels until almost at goal.
All the best,

Thanks for the welcome. I have started a journal. I really hope this works out for me. I do plan to go to OWL at 2 weeks but only to add back slow. I need just a little more variety and the ability to have a few drinks very occasionally. I’m still feeling good but am worried I might not being getting enough calories. It’s funny, dr Atkins does not say watch your eating enough calories in my memory, but because I put my meals in My Fitness Pal I am aware of the cal count. I feel satisfied, but I’m only getting around 1000 per day.
