Looking for some hope and inspiration

I don't see a lot of success stories around here for PPLP or PP - and I'm wondering if maybe I've just missed them.

I'm having to take it on faith that it'll all work out in the end, and in the meantime - I'd *love* to hear how well PP or PPLP worked for you.

That up to 30 'net' carbs really is ok and that it really does work. My carbs are all over the place lately, but definitely up from my old Atkins 'induction' levels.

Care to share?

Thanks,

Sara

This is my ALL TIME favorite success story. although it is in pictures. And you should have seen her wedding photos!!

If you click the Picture List "button" on that web page you will find many more photo "stories".

You are welcome.
Isn't Tracy's transformation simply amazing?!?
Looking at the first picture, who would have thought that such a lovely young woman was hidden inside.

Two success stories

Hi Citruskiss,

I lost 60 lbs. in 90 days on my first LC attempt in 2003. I also worked out like a fiend, nearly two hrs./day in the gym with a trainer after the first six weeks on the LC plan. Clearly, my body is tailor-made for a LC diet. But my mind couldn't handle the discipline, and my body couldn't take the demands of such an intense exercise regimen for long. After 6 mos., I quit. In the next two years, I gained all 60 lbs. back, and I just didn't care any more.

Fast forward to March of 2008. I'm suffering terribly from allergies (oak trees all around my new apt.), and I decide a LC diet might just help and was worth the effort to reduce my misery. After just 2 weeks after the switch, I felt 50% better. But this time, I decided to learn from my 2003 experience. I schedule "off-plan" days every 4-5 weeks so I don't feel straight-jacketed or deprived. I allow myself a glass of wine daily with dinner. I've reduced the amount of exercise I do, giving myself 1-2 days off after every 3 days of maximal effort/slow-burn exercise.

The results are slower in coming this time: just 25 lbs lost in 12 wks., 60% of that fat, for a total reduction of just 3% body fat. But I'm sane, and I don't feel the need to be letter-perfect in my self-care 100% of the time. Granted, my entire life situation is a lot better (great job now). Part of my change in attitude comes from age (late 40s), and I accept that my body's just not that changeable anymore.

My goal isn't an arbitrary weight that some BMI calculator spits out or some BF % that a chart displays. It's just to eat as well as I can, exercise as I'm able, and enjoy what results my body can produce from that. That's true success for me.

BTW...the site Larry linked is only sporadically maintained by the owners, and can be down for extended periods.

There are plenty of PP successes on the forums at the Protein Power website--people who have been maintaining weight loss and/or health improvements for several years.
