I think there's a guy on here who does food combining. I've never heard it called The Hay Diet. My dental hygenist says it works for her, but she doesn't do it all the time.

My dental hygenist is Polish. Polish doctor Jan Kwasniewski's Optimal Diet has some food combining aspects too.

For me, it would be too complicated. I only eat once a day, and I can't eat wheat at all.

we all do this already. it's automatic when on a LC diet, and that is what this forum is all about.

Not necessarily. I think on food combining, you are allowed to eat much more carbs than on a plan like Atkins, so when he says carb meals, I think, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, you could eat rice cereal and a piece of fruit for breakfast, but then wait at least 3 hours before you eat a protein/fat meal.

No we don't. last time i checked vegetables contained carbs aswell. so does eggs, peanut butter, cheese and whatnot.

This forum is about maintaining a low carb lifestyle. Food combining is automatically low carb as you only eat carbs with one type of meal. Your total carb intake is therefore cut possibly in half.

So is it okay to mix fat and carbs? Because without fat, I'm not sure what's the point of eating carbs...

Kerstina Mon, Sep-07-09 00:44

Smitch007, can you please post a sample menu? I have never understood the concept of food combining.

Woodsy Mon, Sep-07-09 01:05

I am interested too!

I'm still learning myself, but you should keep your carb meals low in fat. Fats/oils can be eaten with protein.

I have a menu on my journal

RCFletcher Mon, Sep-07-09 15:29

You might like to cut out the butter on your carbohydrate breakfast. I sue very low fat spread. Fats should not be combined with carbohydrates.
