My daughter and I were discussing this. She works with a lot of people who seem to drink sodas continuously throughout the day. She also observed that they don't drink water, just sodas.

I saw a documentary on PBS where 14 year olds in the SE US had their teeth rotted to brown nubs. They drank several 2-quart bottles of Mountain Dew a day. And to think that early soda bottles were only 6 or 7 ounces and a rare treat.
