Campaign for Shirataki Noodles in UK
A lot of people might have had trouble finding shirataki noodles in the UK. They do sell them at some Tesco stores, but I'm campaigning for them to be sold on their online store--it would be so much more convenient!
Please make a request to their customer services: https://www.tescohelp.com/tesco/forms/ghs_form.html I spoke to them on the phone and they said if enough people requested them, they would stock them! |
Is that the plain ones made from just konjak/konnyaku/glucoman or the ones with tofu added? The plain ones are usually available from an eastern-style "ethic" shop if you have any of those locally.

Up here in Newcastle I've been able to buy them from a Chinese supermarket and also from a shop selling Japanese food.
|
|
Also in Manchester, there's the Samsi japanese restaurant with a grocery shop in the basement that sell them. (just in case Tesco don't start selling them online!)
|
I have bought mine from a different online japanese mailorder company
http://www.japanesekitchen.co.uk/shirataki_noodles.html but did see them as well as the block stuff at a local ethnic Korean supermarket (called "Seoul Food") a while ago when looking for coconut oil. |

Hi Missy Jo,
You can get them in the Chinerse supermarket in Stowell street or the oriental food shop on the road that leads up towards the Chinese arch near St Andrew's Church. (The shop that used to be a pet shop). They are tasteless by the way. Good luck. |
Thanks Robert! I also found them in Tsang on the Haymarket...a bargain at 85p a packet. I love them and they have become a staple!
Best wishes Jo |
Just bought some from zero noodles. Thought I would just try a couple of packs for starters, as I've heard they are an acquired taste!

It's funny how they seem to think it is a new food to hit our shores!! I bought them years ago when I started Atkins and didn't like them so never bothered to buy them again. Could not get over the rubber band mouthfeel of them.
|
I love them....just had them as 'pasta' with some Walden Farms Creamy Balsamic carb free dressing....felt like carbonara. Sort of.
|
I just had some in a spicy stir fry and they were ok, a bit like rice noodles. I will definitely use them again.

phad thai delicious
Hi I've been searching for info on these noodles, they are so expensive to buy on line as they are packed in water and weigh so much. I purchased some from Mount Fuji International who sent me all they had in stock (8 packs!) and have no more now!!!!! Who's buying them?
I made a phad thai with them and I must say, you wouldn't know the difference between them and ordinary rice glass noodles, they were FAB!! If anyone knows of any local asian stores in the west sussex area which sells them, do let me know. thanks :help: |
