Alderspring mountain grass fed beef
Alderspring mountain grass fed beef
Saw this ranch featured in "Western Horseman", they use the old Mt Plain "cow camp" model moving their heard frequently to various rich grasses found on the BLM land by horseback. I know cattle can get fat on grass, but only if it's good and protein plus minerals rich. Of course they sell their range processed beef on-line too. It's pricey, but I have an empty freezer and a stomach to fill! :) http://www.alderspring.com/ http://www.alderspring.com/store/pa...k-moreinfo.html Quote:

That's interesting but you know, there are people in Texas doing the same thing, it's just a matter in locating them. We raise cattle and I would love to do that but we can't find a butcher who will do it on the hoof, slaughter a live animal. Same with deer, so many of them want the meat parts to process but don't want the whole animal, which is already hunted so not alive. Also there is the issue of if you actually receive back the processed animal you brought in.
At least the one you found does sell the certain parts you want and not the whole thing. |
In Ontario Canada, We can still take cows to the abattoir. they do the whole job. Our cows are grass fed, But in the winter we give them a a couple of scoops of grain every day. I feel really lucky to have grass fed beef. We only have about 20 head
