Moderators, if this is out of line, feel free to nuke this thread, I won't be insulted -- just not sure of the rules.

I have no financial ties with any companies, just want to know where to shop on-line as local stores around me have an extremely limited selection.

I do Netritition and Amazon.

Anything else out there that is better? Better selection? Better prices?

Thanks,
Bob

You can get so many things in regular stores these days. And Amazon tends to be a good source for stuff. I guess which are the best stores, depends on what you're looking for.

I don’t know about price but Publix is now carrying “RealGood” Keto prepared meals. Things like beef or chicken or cheese enchiladas, egg, cheese and sausage or bacon breakfast sandwiches with cauliflower crust. Unlike most prepared foods the ingredients are quite decent. Easy for a quick change or pace. I used to buy from Netrition all the time but haven’t been there lately. But I’ve been buying from Amazon since 1996 and that’s usually the first place I check. I also have a local natural foods store (called Grassroots Market) that carries a few decent Keto products.

For online I would also check out Thrive.

Our local health food store doesn't carry much in the way of keto.

Publix has a nice selection of imported cheeses. My wife can't eat A1 type cheese so we have to get European cheese.

Note: There is a mutation in one of the Amino Acids in American Cow milk that is histidine instead of proline, and many people are allergic to the histadine (which turns into a histamine which is what you take antihistamines for).

Of course Publix and Aldi have a decent selection of organic and 100% grass fed beef, that's good.

The things like zero carb bread, MCT oil, and so many other things just can't be found locally.

I drink 100% grass fed Australian whey shakes and like to flavor the vanilla shakes from time to time with DaVinci or Torani sugar free syrups. The local selection is dismal and expensive.

So I was wondering if there was anything comparable to the selection that Netrition has.

fatworks..., grass fed lard, ghee, tallow, etc.

:)

Ditto the suggestion About Publix. Adding LC foods all the time. Recently I found a new array of Sweet Drops stevia flavors for coffee and water...in plastic not glass. But most grocers only carry a limited amount of flavors of the DaVinci...Netrition definitely had the biggest selection if you want to go wild with flavors. Sometimes HomeGoods/TJ Maxx has overstocks of flavor syrups and a crazy array of odd "Keto" foods.
Amazon also sells a five pack of the sweet drops flavors to try a stevia based if interested, but our Publix has vanilla and carmel. https://sweetleaf.com
I see MCT oil in Walmart and drug stores now...it’s everywhere.

I picked up from library the new cookbook, Southern Keto, and the author mentioned that she lives in a small town, but once a month she drives hour plus to the town with Trader Joe's, Aldi, Costco with coolers in the trunk.

I compared the price per pound of organic walnuts and found the Trader Joe's brand goes for $11.99 / lb ( nuts.com is $16.99 / lb ). Also, TJ's organic almonds: $10.56 / lb, nuts.com $14.99.

:)

We have a Publix and Aldi but no Trader Joe or Whole Foods in driving distance :(

It's the price of living in 'almost paradise'.

JEY100 Wed, Apr-17-19 03:47

Whenever we talk about downsizing and moving to a less urban area I counter with not wanting to leave my doctors and being close to an airport, but really it’s because I don’t want to leave Trader Joe’s and Cosco that are within 5 miles of my home. Almost Paradise is very tempting though.

Have you looked into Amazon Prime Delivery from Whole Foods, or Costco delivery? With both you have to be somewhat near their warehouses. Costco will deliver anything anywhere non-perishable, and uses Insta-Cart for fresh food. Amazon Prime uses its own fleet of vans here, but we have Whole Foods nearby.

Oddly enough, the zero net carb bread and bagels I wanted to get for dh, though sold for $5 less than on amazon, via Walmart, were fulfilled by Bariatricpal.com - their store. I went there to order directly - the ThinSlim foods line of baked goods. I haven't looked at what else they offer, to be honest.
Though expensive, I can do this at least once a month as it is working really well for dh to have a "breakfast sandwich" using their bagels or bread with egg, sugar-free sausage and cheese :)

My biggest bread desire is hamburger buns. I just have a hard time eating a grass-fed burger I grill myself without a bun. The zero carb buns at Netrition are OK, a little tough and fibrous, but for low carb buns very good.

I do shop Amazon for some items, Netrition for others, and was hoping for more choices simply for variety and more selections.

My dh also loves the particular recipe I have for a Keto 90 Sec Mug bread - pan toasted in butter it has the chew and size/shape of an English muffin, which we use also for his breakfast "sandwich". He also likes the fathead dough recipe I use to make him hamburger "buns", but the fav would the trimslim bagels and bread.

You are at goal, and if willing to bake, this bread recipe is #1. There are other quicker ones, but Keto Bread wins by taste. https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/keto/recipes/bread

I made this yesterday for the first time (though I've had the recipe bookmarked for ages). I was experimenting with LC Hot Cross buns, and added in spices, orange zest, and a few chopped dried cranberries. The bread itself was very satisfying and breadlike; the cranberries were lovely (don't eat much dried fruit anymore), but I under estimated the spices. They seem to disappear into the almond flour/psyllium, so I've made a note for next time. The buns themselves were very easy to make, and even my DH (not LC) thought they were nice.

Where can I find the recipe?

90 sec is good. I'm self-employed which means I get to pick which 16 hours of the day I'm going to work ;)

Thanks
