Lose 5 lb. Challenge #351

I'm starting the new thread for our winner SheilaQ!

***************

This is a challenge to lose 5 pounds at a time!

Anyone can join at anytime.
Just copy LAST post and add your name at the bottom of the list, or if there are people above 5 lbs to go, add your name after that last 5 lbs- to- go person listed.
Use the start-weight from the day when you join this challenge. Start at 5.0 lbs to go.
Update your weight as often as you like and move yourself up in the ranks accordingly.
When someone loses 5 lbs we have a WINNER! There can be more than 1 winner in the same day!

Then we start a new thread and begin again.

Let's try this again! I won the challenge before last then bounced all over the place in the last one. Starting at the same weight as the last one, though, so nothing gained, nothing lost.

Thanks for starting the new thread, Citygirl! I didn’t realize I was supposed to do it.

CityGirl8 Wed, Apr-17-19 10:44

No problem! I felt a little bad doing it, because people can usually see who the last winner was by who started the new thread.

You are really not that far from goal! Congrats on your win! I am finding if I check my ketosis status and it's always "on", eventually I lose even if it seems very slow or I bounce around.

I had to change my shorts because they were falling down too much. Today was the day I can't wear my pants anymore. I hate that aspect of losing weight and gaining weight, constantly figuring out clothes.

Thanks everyone, I was thrilled to win the first challenge I participated in. I think I’m in the honeymoon phase here. I started Atkins on March 5 and I have lost 19.5 lbs in less than 2 months. I have never cheated on the plan and usually keep my carbs at 10g or so each day, though I do drink wine or lc beer one night a week. It seems to be working really well and I am so relieved and grateful. When people ask me how will you sustain this WOE, I realize that it’s not only not a diet for me, it’s the result of not being able to unknow what I now know about the SAD and how the mainstream nutrition advice is evil and upside down. I have been binge reading LC books, Including Taubes, Fung, etc.

Anyway, good luck to everyone on this next 5 lbs. Warm weather is upon us and let’s go girls! At my book club tonight people were talking about bathing suit shopping. Oh dear lord. Now there is motivation. I have a big clambake on a lake in July for a friend’s 50th and maybe, just maybe I will appear in swim attire. Doesn’t compare to the health benefits I know, but just once in my life I’d like to feel acceptable at a water party.

Guess I’m feeling chatty, will move over to my journal.

You just need to find the right suit! I am a lifeguard and swim instructor and I can tell you everything about how to look good in a suit because I stare at people in bathing suits all day. First rule is no one is really looking and everyone blends into each other and things we think of as negatives don't even register to people at the pool. #1 most flattering suit on almost everyone is a string bikini. High-waisted bikinis are very unflattering unless you have the right body for it (usually bigger women with booty). Next most flattering is one with a short flouncy skirt, either bikini or one-piece but has to be flouncy. Worst is a simple black tank. Second worst are those vintage type bikinis or one -pieces that are supposed to "hide". They just cut your line up.

For modest swimwear, a burkini is nice for Muslim women. If you get modest separates like the ones more conservative Jewish and Christian traditions wear, try to get a suit with the least amount of nylon possible because nylon droops and sags and emphasizes everything you don't want to emphasize. Poyester or PBT is the way to go.

I have a lot of opinions about this! In a string bikini, no one notices stretch marks and cellulite but that all jumps out at the eye if you try to hide it especially with any kind of fabric that is flowy or drapey. Except for a flouncy skirt, a suit should be tight to the skin. Otherwise, it looks horrible when wet.

Wow,everyone's doing great! Interesting view on swimsuits, guess we tend to focus on our body insecurities that no one else does.

Had some minor mouth surgery yesterday, hope it gives me a jump start on some WL, heh heh. At least our spring weather is making me more active.

No change today.

Congrats, Jschwab on the shorts being too big! That's a great victory.

SheilaQ, I'm sure you can find a fun and flattering swimsuit for the party this summer. I like the flouncy skirt suits that Jschwab mentioned. I have one I bought at Lands End a number of years back. They aren't great for serious swimming (for that you need an unflattering tank), but I've been very comfortable in the one I have. You can buy all the pieces as separates at Lands End, so you can get tops and bottoms to fit your size and mix and match. My one regret is that I got a halter-style tank top--it makes my neck sore because my boobs are big. But the skirt is solid black, so I might get a new top that will go with it.

jschwab, that's great about the shorts!

Love the thoughts on the swimsuits! SheilaQ, I hope you find one you really like!
