New Challenge.. looking for ideas...this might be fun too
Hi Everyone
I'm in a challenge... and I'm trying to set my goals. I'm doing something different and I'd like your suggestions. I'm kinda in a funk/rut, call it what you will.. not every day.. and it's not TOO bad, but for a very "half full" person like me.. it's time to make some changes. I'm trying to shake things up a little, so I'm thinking part of my challenge will be to do something I haven't done before either weekly or bi-weekly. Doesn't have to have anything to do with food or exercise.. could be a play, hot air balloon ride, ANYTHING.. so I'm looking for ideas. It could also have to do with food or exercise.. dance class, learning a receipe (currently I'm good at breakfast and suck for everything else). Here are a few ideas I received from someone. I'd like to triple this list. I bet a lot of us could benefit by doing something like this. 1. Rent a metal detector and go to the beach or park. 2. Go to a flea Market. 3. Get a tattoo 4. Treat yourself and rent a really neat car that you could never afford to buy. 5. Bake cookies and give them away to someone who needs cheering up. 6. Buy something very different at the deli to try.....snake meat? Pickled pigs feet? 7. Go walk barefoot on the lawn, lay down and watch the clouds for half an hour. 8. Call someone you haven't talked to in a couple of years. Well.. that's it for now.. all suggestions encouraged and welcomed!! I put this in my journal.. and it created a fair amount of interest, so I'm not the only one I guess who has thought along these lines. Mike |
Cant say I'll try the snake meat or pickled pigs feet but getting a new tatoo...Now there is something I wouldn't mind

How about...
doing some deep breathing exercises planting a garden going to the zoo go rock climbing indoors/outdoors Bungee jumping I dont know how daring you want to be:) redecorate a room in your house fix up a piece of old furniture clean out the garage go to an amusement park and ride the scariest roller coaster have date nite with spouse and tell him/her how much you appreciate them be a big brother/big sister to a child volunteer for a local organization adopt an animal learn horseback riding go camping and rough it without all the "extras" Those are just some ideas. Not saying that I've tried all of them..Well good luck:) |
How about:
Get a library card and use it. Go to a museum Learn a new language on CD while in your car (will take awhile!) Go to Home Depot and take one of their quick seminars. Then go home and build it! Good for you...sounds like you're on the road to personal enrichment. Keep us posted on the things you do...sounds like interesting reading! |
Let's see...
Pick an opera, learn about it and borrow or buy the CD. Try a piece of equipment at the gym that has intimidated you. Cook a whole fish if you've never done that (I haven't)! Memorize a poem--how about one of Shakespeare's sonnets? |
I don't have anything to add (but I will when I think of something). I just wanted to "bookmark" this thread so I will remember to do some of these things. What a great idea!

Take a road trip on one tank of gas. Go somewhere that is nearby but unknown. 16. Take some art classes. 17. how about spring cleaning my bathroom?...Okay your bathroom ;) |
Oh I forgot...
How about getting something pierced? |
hey as a travel nurse i try to learn something new at each assignment .....
so far in el paso i took horse back riding lessons in oakland i took up wine tasting in los angeles i learned to SCUBA dive and now in portland i'm learning to drysuit scuba dive cause it's cold waters here.....in houston though i'm sure the water is warmer near galveston or south padre and scuba is fun fun hope these helped and good luck!!!! other things i'd like to try include skydiving piloting learning to ride a motorcycle |
Something I want to try:
Build a model city. This is what I have to do one day. That would be so much fun! |
Hold a pencil with your toes and draw a picture.
Hold a piece of paper on top of your head and draw a picture. (These first two are a lot more fun if you do them with kids) Make up your own crossword puzzle. Personalyze it for a friend and send it to them. Make up your own comic book, complete with cover and advertisements. Draw an advertisement for a store as though it will be in the next newspaper. I guess you can tell I like to draw. :) Should be obvious I grew up without much tv.--Gail |
This is similar to Daddio's idea about renting a car you'd never really own....how about trying on some clothes that are very "not you" or are too formal for your lifestyle--just for fun. I never went to a prom when I was a teenager, and maybe one of these days I will go try on prom dresses (if I can find a very private fitting room!).

How about getting a paper route or start a small business like card making.
|
How about doing something nice for someone you don't even know. Something like giving a rose or flower to the cashier in a convenience store, or taking cookies to the library, or paying for someone's coke or burger who is in line after you, etc.
