To Fruit or Not to Fruit

The hardest thing for me to give up was not the bread, or the pasta. It was the fruit. More specifically, melons and berries.

Well, I had a BBQ - that no one showed for - and had a lot of fruit left over. I know it is bad, but I could resist it. Over the next week I finished off the watermelon, honeydew, cantelope, stawberries and blueberries. I didn't gain anything, nor did my cravings for sugary sweets return. I am dying for another slice of watermelon though.

Do melons (I know oranges and apple have lots of sugar) and berries affect the diet, or are you encouraged to stay away from them just because of the chance of it bringing your cravings?

Any advice would be good.

Thank you.

Berries, some melon and even peaches ARE allowed. They are high in fiber, so after induction (if you are following Atkins) you're permitted them. If you check out the carb counter under "Low Carb Tools" above, you can get all the nutrional information you need (it will even list the fruits with the lowest carb counts first)

I'm going to have some raspberries in heavy cream for dessert tonight ;)

And make sure you try our carbohydrate counter :)

You can click on the fruits category, and select sort ascending or descending based on carbs, fiber or ECC to see a long list of all fruits sorted by carbs.

So, what do you think it is about the watermelon that you are dying for then? ;)
