Hi!
I have been low carbing since last September. My son lost ~70 pounds in about one semester and I needed to lose some weight so I thought I would try it. I am a physician and my training has been that saturated fat is evil. If one wanted to lose weight, it must be done on a low fat calorie restricted diet. Then I started reading and looking at the research. We have all been duped. Not only is being keto a great way to lose weight, but it decreases your risk for cardiovascular disease, inulin resistance/Diabetes, inflammation and a whole host of metabolic anomalies. I recently had my lipids and lab work done, and they were stellar. I had a heart scan and my calcium score was 114 (bottom edge of moderate 100-400 is moderate). I'm glad I happened on this. CV disease runs in my family. Now I know the truth as to what really increases the risk and a high carb diet is number one. I'm building a website to share the information to others I can help. It's difficult to get other doctors to believe the truth. MyScottyLowCarb.com |
Welcome Scotty,
What an inspiring intro, about your own health and now your plan to make a website to help other doctors understand the benefits of LC beyond simply weight loss. My own doctor, Eric Westman at Duke, has been involved in teaching other doctors for 20 years. You may want to check the LC training modules developed for the Obesity Medicine Association. LowCarbUSA.org is also developing a CME approved training course. Many of the doctors well known in the Low Carb world have articles at DietDoctor.com, like Jason Fung https://www.dietdoctor.com/intermittent-fasting. https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/for-doctors. This link is to Dr David Unwin's course for doctors...a good topic outline A few of the doctor websites I like for info are: Dr Naiman https://burnfatnotsugar.com/index.html Dr Fettke https://www.nofructose.com Dr Bret Scher, Cardiologist https://lowcarbcardiologist.com Dr William Davis, Cardiologist. https://www.wheatbellyblog.com Dr Eric Westman, https://healclinics.com/articles/ Some are good with website design and search optimization. other LC doctors spend more time on Twitter and Facebook. Crazy as that seems to me ;) but it works for Dr Naiman, Dr Baker, Dr Tro, and others. The more doctors writing about LC and especially "prescribing" it for patients, the better. All the best, |
