Thomas De Lauer mentions study: keto preserves BMR

We learned from The Big Loser tv show that extreme weight loss drops BMR so low that it has not recovered even 5 years later (Phinney)and participants regain most of their body fat after the show is over.

DeLauer mentions a study based on keto that maintains BMR!!

Info is last couple of minutes.

Intriguing. I wonder if those people whose BMR dropped can help that situation with low carb?

My n=1 study suggests that it does. I ate high-carb low-cal low-fat diets throughout the 1980s and most of the 90s and would gain weight if I ate more than 1100 calories or cut back on my 60 minutes of exercise 7 days a week in maintenance at my ideal weight.

When I first tried Protein Power in 1999 I stuck to ~1100 cals/day for a while even though the Drs. Eades said not to. But after a few months I could maintain on ~1425. Once I ditched all grains, legumes & dairy proteins I could maintain on 1700.
