Paleo Trader Joe's Must Haves from the RealSimpleGood website.
Not all low carb, but good list with photos and recipes too.

Got excited when saw a cauliflower pizza crust in new flyer, but all that starch adds up to 17g carbs per a 1/6 slice. Drat.
But a friend's child has to be gluten and dairy free ( cheese crusts are out) so good for her, this may fit into other diets too. http://www.traderjoes.com/digin/pos...wer-pizza-crust

Well that is moving in the right direction with cali pizza cruse but as you said it's 17g for 1/6 and the whole pizza would be 102g of carbs...Drat is right!
I hope eventually they would omit the corn and potato starch and do it with cheese but that would probably run the price up...

From what I've read recently, whole milk and cheese is really coming back and sales of skim milk is dropping off and I know that the heavy cream is flying off the shelves so we have a chance to see much more low carb foods in the future.

Trader Joe's has always had wonderful imported cheese selection at great prices. But they also cater to vegan or dairy-free for allergy reasons...rafts of alternate milks and yogurts. So many kids seem to be sensitive to dairy now...and that really cuts out many of the LC recipes that depend on cheese. No gluten, no dairy and something a middle-schooler would eat... always searching for that magic product.

Fun Note for the Trader Joe's fans and parking story...our DD has a new job in Charlotte, and when looking for apartments on line I noticed one next to a Trader Joe's and not far from work. That's the one she finally picked, and it even has a walk from the complex to the back of the store. As we drove out past it around lunchtime...no free parking spaces anywhere so walking for groceries will be the way to go.
Charlotte Commercial Real Estate Agent: Here's a small store in an overcrowded shopping strip.
TJ's: Parking looks Terrible...we'll take it!

I love that your daughter is living next to the Trader Joe's now! haha like mother like daughter!
You prompted me to look at the web site again and I just found out there is another new one closer to me now and I think it's in a strip shopping center with lots of parking!! YAY!
I'll check it out this week...

Now we can text photos back and forth of what the stores have
For anyone who can eat sweet fruits, Angelcots! (Nectarines and Apricot) are in and also Plumcots, but they are old hat by now.

I am trying to find the "catch" with the new Chocolate bar, Absolute Black 100% cocoa by Montezuma. https://www.montezumas.co.uk
No sugar, no AS, no soy, dairy, no nothing's and Tastes Divine!
93% chocolate liquor and 7% cocoa nibs. I am use to the 85% Chocolate Lovers Bar, but this is even better. It does not taste bitter to me though intense chocolate.

I always loved this thread since the beginning! Thanks again so much, Janet! :)

Good news, not TJ though. On a Cooking LC FB page, we got into a long discussion about this story and someone said her Costco had fresh cauliflower rice in 2 lb bags. I'd never seen it at our store but did a new sweep of fresh and frozen veggies...and my NC Costco has FROZEN cauliflower rice from Cascadian Farms Organic 4-12 oz packs for $7.99 so same price as TJ! Think this was new within the last month, and directly across the aisle from the KerryGold butter :)

I just moved next to a TJ's.....

refrigerated chicken soup (has veg but no noodles)- delicious and 5 carbs per cup

The broccoli crisps (5 carbs per bag plus 7 fiber)

Reduced guilt kale and spinach dip..... amazing. It's Greek yogurt based, but tastes just like spinach dip.

Palak paneer (frozen)- omg!

Will return with more new favorites :D

Hi Robin

Those sound like some great new TJ finds!
Gotta go check it out soon. :agree:

Robin120 Mon, Sep-18-17 09:21

Hi Meme! Missed you :)

Yesterday I tried a brand new TJ's find. It is tabbouleh made with diced cauliflower instead of rice. The texture is off. They used crumbles instead of "riced" for some odd reason, seeing as they sell plenty of riced cauili?
Still the seasoning is spot on, and overall I enjoyed and will buy it again. I used to love tabbouleh and making Mediterranean plates with feta, olives, hummus or baba ganoiush with cucumbers, bell pepper, tzatziki....

I'm overseas for work for a while and you'd think I'd miss In-N-Out and the likes, but no...I miss Trader Joe's. :) Cauliflower rice/pizza crust is to die for!

Paul-

Last week's reviews:

Everything but the bagel seasoning is delicious. I used it in roasted broccoli and bell peppers

Chicken sausage (sweet pepper)- delicious and dinner in minutes, perfect for busy nights.

Autumn harvest salsa- has pumpkin, tomato, squash and a little apple. It has 3 carbs per 2 tbsp, I used 1/4 cup over chicken with mexican seasonings, and melted cheddar (so even though it has fruit/squash dinner was 8 carbs total. It is sooo good!!!!!
I would make these lettuce tacos next time, but my romaine had gone limp. Sauteed bell peppers or sour cream would also work well.

Butternut squash zig zag- these are just crinkle cut prices of squash but they are so cute and would make great "fries." I used some yesterday to make sheet of roasted Brussels and bells, and they looked great. Carbs are very reasonable- 8 per 1 cup raw, plus 2 fiber.

Robin...I'm loving all your new finds. The stores are small compared to the other national grocers, but you keep finding more to try. Butternut zig-zags...never heard of those. Must get some. Everyone raves about Everything but Bagel but I don't know what to put it on, roasted veggies sounds good. The fall items are still being stocked, Oct. 7 is the TJs Pumpkin-Palooza here. If you like their Body Butter DD likes the limited time Pumpkin version...Have to be crazy for pumpkin spice to want to smell like it. :) good to try it that day. Haven't seen the salsa yet either. When I first started Atkins my food choices were still low fat and the TJ chicken sausage was a staple, also liked to remove the skin and and make the spicy Italian a base for skillet pizza.

Edit: I found those Zig-zags and a recipe to make into fries. http://www.mmgood.com/baked-butternut-squash-zig-zags/
Will try at 450 to see if that makes them crispier...or burns them to a heap of ashes :)
