I've recently come into possession of a large quantity of Designer Whey Protein in chocolate flavor. I am looking for recipes to use it in. I already got an awesome fudge recipe and a recipe for protein bars that I haven't tried yet off the CarbSense site, but I'd like to get more. I did a search on this site, and didn't find much. If anyone is using chocolate Designer Whey Protein in recipes, could you please pass them on? I'd appreciate it. Thank you.

How did you "come into possession of"...?

I'd love that to happen to me! I love the stuff and use it to make smoothies.

MayLisa, you could probably get more recipe 'hits' if you searched for recipes in this Kitchen Forum using +chocolate +protein +powder ... in short, ANY recipe using chocolate protein powder would probably be suitable for the Designer Way brand.

I use the Designer Whey in my morning shake and in muffin recipes.

For my shake, I use

1/2 c cream
1/2 Davinci sugar free syrups flavorings
1 scoop protein powder
1 egg
4-6 ice cubes.

I like chocolate powder with choclate or carmel flavorings.
Vanilla is good with raspberry, strawberry, and huckleberry.

Shakes are 6 carbs each.

I have two muffins recipes I make, one is a Banana walnut, the other is a chocolate-peanut butter.

BANANA FLAX SEED MUFFINS

1 cup Vanilla SF syrup
1 stick butter - melted
3 large egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 tb. banana flavoring
1/2 cup heavy cream
3 tb. vegetable oil

1 cup flax seed
3/4 cup vanilla protein powder
3/4 cup soy flour
1 tsp. baking powder

walnuts - optional

Mix wet ingredients in bowl. Beat very well.

Mix dry ingredients in second bowl.

Mix wet ingredients into dry. Stir until very smooth.

Pour evenly into (12) muffin tins lined with paper cups
(these muffins bake up "over the top")

Bake ~ 350° for 18 to 22 min., until knife inserted in the
center of a muffin comes out clean.

Makes 12 muffins. Scant more than 3 carbs per mufin

Total recipe has 53 g.carbs, 16 g. fiber for net 37 (37 ÷ 12 = 3.08)

CHOCOLATE-PEANUT BUTTER MUFFINS

3 eggs - beaten

1 stick butter > melted
1 T peanut butter > together

ADD:

1 C Chocolate SF Flavoring
1 T vanilla

Beat until smooth

Still in until blended:

1 C Chocolate Protein Powder
1 1/2 t. baking powder
1/4 t. salt
1 C ground Flax Seed
1/2 c pecans

Beat eggs, still in melted butter/peanut butter
until smooth.

Beat in dry ingredients

Bake ~ 350 for 25 minutes

Makes 12 muffins

These are 2.5 carbs per muffin

I use Designer in this recipe. It takes a little practice, but they are yummy. They are "Zoned", so the ratio is approx. 40/30/30.
Enjoy!
This recipe is very forgiving depending on your choice of ingredients and brands ~ adjust accordingly. For instance, you may prefer almond butter or less peanut butter and chopped nuts. Powdered milk brands vary significantly in their counts – check your label. Do not use soy protein powder. The result would be dry and chalky. The entire recipe should be 84g Protein, 108g Carb, 36g Fat (slight variations are Zone acceptable)

Chewy Chocolate Zone ‘Fudge’

6 T Fructose (48g Carb)
6+- T Water
¼ C natural Peanut Butter (32g Fat)
¾ C + 2T Designer Whey Chocolate Protein Powder (61.25g Protein, 7g Carb, 5g Fat)
¾ C Sanalac Powdered Milk (24g Protein, 39g Carb)
5 T Hershey’s Cocoa Powder (10g Carb, 2.5g Fat)
3 T ground Flax Seed (optional) (Free)
2 T Splenda

Mix dry ingredients together with wire whisk – Set aside

In a large saucepan, bring water and fructose to boil. Add peanut butter and return to boil stirring with wire whisk.

Remove from heat.

Add dry ingredients.

Stir with fork. Mixture will be very thick. More water may need to be added a few drops at a time.

Press into sprayed mini-muffin tins and freeze for about an hour. Remove from tin and store in sealed container in freezer.

Makes 12 one block snacks.

Total recipe = 85g Protein, 104g Carb, 39.5 Fat

oh, YUM! Thank you soooo much for the shake recipe, CharM!

I only had the plain whey, so just added some vanilla for a vanilla shake.

This is even better than my ice cream milkshakes I'd make!

MayLisa,
I would like to know your "awesome" fudge recipe. I tried googling for carbsense and fudge but no such luck.
Anyway you could post or supply a link?
thanks!
