DO SUPPLEMENT PILLS CONTAIN CARBS? THEY DONT MARK THEIR CARB COUNT ON THE SUPPLEMENT

i bought calcium/magnesium supplement , omega3-6-9, potassium, centrum strenght , l-glutamine , vitamin E .

brand name : jamieson , andre gagnion in canada.

i read the bottles , some say no sugar, no starch, no lactose, some say no calorie, no fat, no lactose, some only say no salt, no sugar. they dont tell u the carb count on supplements, im really woorried if they contain carbohydrates. none of these are chewable because chewable flavors contain carbs.

all these have 0 taste, flavours so i assume theres no carbs?

if there was it would be in the miligrams? negligable?

anyone knows?

I know some of them do. I'm not sure on the exact carb count. Most likely less than 1g, but guess it depends on how big the pills are and how many you're taking. I used to just save 5 carbs a day for supplements.

I was taking "Nature Made" calcium for instance, and It says
-No Artificial colors
-No Artificial Flavors
-No Preservatives
-No Chemical Solvents, Yeast, Or Gluten

Yet, in the ingredients it says "Corn Starch" (= Carbs!)
Anddd, it smells and tastes like raw pasta. Go figure.

Hi guys,

You can stop worrying!

The amount of starch contained in one tablet or pill is so tiny you can happily ignore it!

Even if it's a sugar coated pill, the amount of sugar is so small, there is no need to bother with it.

Cheers.

Rosebud,

Thanks for the response...I had some of the same questions.

:q: Maybe you can help me on another?; The protein powder I take daily has 239 g of potassium...Is this enough? Also, I am looking into a muti-vitamin. I know I need one with calcium and magnesium, but what other things should I be looking for.

Thx.

The Big Three in LCing are:

A good multi vitamin

A calcium / magnesium combination supplement- ratio usually 2:1, chelated (malate, citrate - not calcium carbonate) 1200-1500mg RDA for cal / 400-600mg RDA for Magensium

Potassium - either in pill form or from a salt substitute such as Morton's Light Salt, or NuSalt. 400mg a day (4 pills or 1/8th of a teaspoon of salt substitute)

After that, it's personal. I take 1000 mg of vitamin C, alpha-lipoic acid, vitamin B complex and L-glutamine.

It could be and endless stream in the supplements department.

Have you checked out the Supplements Forum yet. People take different things for different reasons.
