Hi Crystalite

Welcome to this forum. Low carbing is a great way to loose weight. A year later I am still enjoying this way of life.

I notice that you have not decided what low carb plan you are going to follow. You need to make a decision, get the book and read it fully, otherwise you will not get the results you crave. Look over to the right and see the first of the quick links "Which low-carb plan is right for me?" Have a look and make a decision.

I started on Atkins, because at that time I had not heard of any of the others. I have since got Protein Power and Schwarzbein. I really enjoyed reading Barbara Schwarzbein's book and have included some of her suggestions into my way of life.

You will find people on this forum having success on all of those low carb plans that you mentioned. Have a look in the specific forums for those plans and see what the posters have to say.

Every success.

My favorite plan is the Protein Power Life Plan, followed by the Bernstein plan for diabetics. I believe in feedback and as most of these plans are intended to control blood sugar levels, I think that the most important purchase (after scales) is a glucometer, I have a one touch ultra which I like a lot and I and friends check blood sugar levels periodically to make sure that the foods that we are eating are keeping blood sugar in the normal range, this is the feedback that I referred to, and for us that means no excursions above around 120 immediately after a meal and not below 80 in the low 1-3 hours after. This means that both blood sugar and insulin are under tight control and because of this so are the tri's and hence you will maximise the weight loss potential of the low carb approach.
No need to test on an ongoing basis as you will rapidly build up a knowledge of "good" meals and "bad" meals.
I hope that this helps....

Try all the different plans yourself (like a month each) and see which one fits you best

I use diet cycles that consist of:

3 weeks standard LC
1 week CAD
2 weeks standard LC
1 splurge weekend :D

Thank you everyone! I think you have helped me a lot, I was looking over that link that Cindy sent me, sound interesting. I am leaning toward Schwarzbein, Sounds like a healthy approach, I may try that idea of yours Shark.... :) . Looks like it can help break the monotonous LC food. Not that it is all monotonous, But sometimes it's nice to have a treat now and then. I crave sweets something terrible. Maybe I am just a spoiled little brat. Got to have my candy waaa! :baby:

It will also be helpful, that once you decide, purchase the book and read it BEFORE you start. That way you will be doing everything right from the get go....

Good luck
