Does the 10x body weight min cals really still apply as you get far overweight?

Im about 250lbs now, and im getting about 1500-2000 cals a day, do I really need to up my intake to 2500 cals a day?

Russmore, it's likely that at 1500 calories you're not getting enough; 2000 would be better. If you do not have a history of yo-yo dieting and are not taking any meds that would interfere with fat loss then 2500 calories a day would allow for fat loss at a steady and safe rate all the while keeping your body happy and well fed.

You can read more about 10x calories and how it applies to those extremely overweight here:

I asked that same question a few weeks ago. The answers I got were: yes you CAN eat 10-12x your body weight and still lose weight. But, some people can't eat that many calories. Some days you get hungrier though. I personally use a guideline of 2000 calories and 20 carbs per day. I make sure I eat at least that every day. Fitday really helps keep track of it all too.
