Found your site searching for Atkins and low carb help via Google.

Just started in March. Had some trouble with phantom carbs my first month and went off last two days. Restarting induction tomorrow, 4/17.

Looking for any advice from seasoned successful Atkins followers. I did Atkins in 2009 with success, but I feel like a total newbie. So much out there has changed. If all of this was available then, it was completely unknown to me.

good to start again assuming you know not so much, like a newbie. This attitude gets some of the gunk out of your ears and you can hear more better :)

You will do well.

Hello & Welcome ExC! http://www.joblack59.com/emo/wave.gif

Have you decided which version of Atkins you are going to follow? Best thing you can do for yourself is get a copy of that version.

And eat "real foods" none of those fraknen-food LC products like shakes, frozen dinners, bars etc... they tend to cause cravings and stalls!

Wishing you much success on your journey to better health!

thud - Thank you! I really hope so. It's been about four years of trying other things, was about time I learned low calorie/juicing/fasting/just exercise wasn't going to work for me.

Jo - I am sticking to real food this time. Past Atkins stop/starts I tried using the bars/shakes and did not lose. I started with the 40, but that didn't work for me. I believe I need to stick to under 20, with no phantom carbs!

Forgot to say I'm doing the "old" Atkins. I'm not sure I believe the net carbs will work for me. I'm going to count actual carbs to start.

Hey ExC! If you're doing the original Atkins from 1972, we have a thread dedicated to that:

http://forum.lowcarber.org/showthread.php?t=474032&page=1&pp=15

We're really HARD CORE, in the sense that we don't move off of Induction level carbs until we reach our goal weight. Imma still at Induction carbs (called biological zero carbs) b/c of my carb metabolic processing disorder...

If you don't have the book, the first page of that thread (post #2) has the induction Foods List, Rules etc...

I found a copy of Atkins 1972 book on Amazon...

Stop by and visit if you think you'd be interested in doing A '72 Hard Core! :agree:
