Greetings!

I've been fat my entire life. As a kid my mom bought me "husky" sized jeans.

I graduated high school as an athlete weighing 240 and quickly ballooned up past 300 in the next few years. Over the years I've yo-yoed a few times, losing and gaining 50 pounds, 100 pounds.

This time I'm ready to do it for good. A few weeks ago I weighed in at 388 pounds. This morning it was 372. I'm on my way. Don't know how long it'll take...but I'm going to get there. My goal is to get down to 250. When I get there I'll reassess and see where I'm going.

I want to be able to go to an amusement park and not be too fat to ride.

I want to be able to buy a tree stand to go deer hunting and not be over the weight limit.

 Hello and welcome, Vizio!

Most of us have been fighting the "fat" battle all of our lives...you've come to a great place where people have not only lost the weight but have been keeping it off for years, some for decades!

Have I got the perfect person for you to follow! His name is Ken and he is an inspiration to all of us.

He started 3 Feb 2014 and went from 440 lbs to 216 lbs. He only has 6 lbs to make his goal weight!

Here's the link to his journal which is so worth reading:

Wishing you much success on your journey to better Health! :cheer:

Another Ken fan here, but you can find many success stories of guys who have lost the weight, and more importantly Kept it off and improved their health, in the success forum. Here is another http://forum.lowcarber.org/showthread.php?t=470701 , BWorthy played football and was husky his life, good discussions about goal weights a few times.

You mention "second time on Atkins", and up and down 50 or 100 pounds. Why did you stop LC the first time? What are you going to do different this time? You don't say but I assume the diet worked for you before, what habits will you change so you do reach goal and make this a way of life to not regain the weight. Maybe a journal will help you work through what needs to done? Maybe joining some buddies like the TDC? http://forum.lowcarber.org/forumdisplay.php?f=49

The first time I did it was 13 years ago. I dropped about 90 pounds, then got sick with West Nile Virus and dropped another 15. Due to dehydration issues my doctor prescribed me to drink gatorade and that was kind of a trigger for me. I went off of it in a big way and just never got back on. Prior to starting this time I was bigger than I've ever been in my life.

Long story short...I could have stayed on the lifestyle, but I treated it as a diet, and assumed that once I dropped the weight I'd never get that big again. I really realize now that it's going to be an ongoing way of life to just eat low-carb.

Vizio,

I wish you so much success on your journey. Sometimes it gets hard when you look at it as "how long it will take" to get where you want to be, but, I have a new mantra that is helping with that and it borrows from an Old Mac Davis song entitled " Lord It's Hard to Be Humble."

My favorite line of that old song (that my parents had on 8 track by the way) is " I can't wait to look in the mirror, cause I get better looking each day."

Great, that's the key!

Read both of Ken's inspiring Milestone posts, he has so much practical advice that will help you do that: http://forum.lowcarber.org/showthread.php?t=472345

Want me to jump in the time machine, go back and whomp your doctor?

Seriously, even that many years ago, she should have known that gatorade was SO bad for you!
