Greetings everyone. I finally saw the light and it hit me, I weigh 400lbs and I look terrible. I made the decision to see a weight loss specialist about my problem along with my primary doc. My weight loss specialist (An MD and Psychologist) gave me some insight to food (more specifically carb) addiction and started me on a regiment of two weight loss drugs, metformin and phentimine, which was blessed by my primary doc. I was also put on a very strict, ultra-low carb new lifestyle.

I just wanted to be around other people who are experiencing what I am. I have plenty of experience in the low carb scene, at one point it was my lifestyle but I fell off the wagon and never got back on. Since that time I have gained 220 pounds and I want it off.

This seems like a supportive site and I hope, perhaps, I can help too.

Cheers
Spoonie

Welcome back to LC, Spoonie
This is a great site for support and information. Many sub-forums to check out, inspiring success stories, and ways to help you be successful on your chosen plan. I see your doctor is a member of ASBP and has some good Info on Carbohydrates on his website. The use of carb restriction is growing within ASBP members, there have been low carb training programs at their annual conferences. All the best,

Hello Spoonie

That's what I'm here for, too. We both have a long way to go and any support we can along the way is welcome. Lots of good info on this site as well.

The "low-carb lifestyle" concept is starting to settle in after 3 months and I'm finding control that I've never experienced before. Hopefully the results will be the same for you. Good luck. Do your best to stay on track and don't let any set-backs derail you from your ultimate goal.

They're calling Metformin a weight loss drug now? I'd be careful with that one AND low carb, remembering my few days on that stuff is still frightening. Gah! I can't remember ever being more sick or feeling worse. But at 400 pounds I'm sure there are things to deal with I am in aware of. Congratulations on the first steps towards a healthy life. Keep some pictures to pull out later when nobody can believe you were ever fat, it's fun!
