;) Hello, everyone I'm new here, just to let you know started the Atkins wol on the end of february. Started at 250 lbs, and am at 240 lbs right now, I feel I can be doing better, and need loads of support. I hope we can all help one another. Have had a problem staying in ketosis, until i layed off some of the cheese, have been in ketosis for most of the time, just not losing right now. I do one hour of exercise everyday. I drink 12 to 18 glasses of water per day. I am feeling wonderful, and losing a few inches, just have to be very patient. I plan on beating the battle of the bulge, and this wol is the best i know of. No measuring, and lots of good snack foods.

I have stuck to anywhere from 20-35 carbs per day, and have been seeing a blood analyst specialist, that believes i have a thyroid problem, so I must be very patient. I am 38 and live near Edmonton, Alberta. Hope we all can help one another.

thank you

Welcome aboard Di! Congrats on the good start. Trust me, your exercise is adding muscles to your weight, but taking inches away, this is the best way to be lean!

Welcome aboard! You're doing very well indeed. Averaging a lb per week is great -- personally, I feel that at the end of 6 months, slow and steady ends up at exactly the same place as the ones who start out with the big losses but gradually taper off. And those inches off are better for your health, in the long run.

I admire your attitude .. :) .. You're very sensible to keep the carbs at a level where you'll lose at a steady rate, but not so low you'll get frustrated (and bored from the restriction) and end up abandoning the whole program. I have a hunch you're going to be very successful indeed!

Be insistent about the thyroid. There are cases where the standard blood tests show "normal", even though all the other signs of hyothyroid are present -- I'm one of those. It,s been two years, and my dr. and I are still playing with different doses and types of thyroid hormone, but I think the most recent change is helping. There is some excellent information on hypothyroidism at About.com, Click here to read it (http://thyroid.about.com/health/thyroid/library/weekly/aa090700a.htm).

Look forward to reading more posts of your lowcarbing success!

You are so right Doreen; for years I couldn't understand why I had all the symptoms of hypothyroidism but my blood tests remained normal. Finally after going to a walk in clinic, presenting with pain in my neck. They ordered a scan and I have a nodule and empty sella syndrome. Finally an endocrinologist put me on synthroid and I am a new person.
Thank God for that drug...........:D
