Hi everyone, I am new to this low carb diet and was wondering if anyone had some advice on what to make for family dinners. My husband and I are doing the low carb thing but our 3 kids, ages 7, 6, and 3 are still going to need some of the things we won't be eating. How do I make a meal for everyone without getting us off induction but allowing them to have some of the things they want or need for their little bodies?
Any suggestions are welcome!
Thanks!
Elizellen

Hi Kim, welcome to the board.
I do not have children but imagine you can make the same main dish for them as you and your hubby are going to eat but maybe add a starchy side like baked potatos, rice or pasta if you feel they need it.
Are you going to find non-sugar snacks etc for them? Fruit or something like celery spread with cream cheese would be a better snack for them than fruit juices or candy I would think.

Much the same as Elizellen I do not have children lol. I have however been on the reverse side. I am 25 however I live close to my mothers house and often dine there with my brother, step dad and mother.
If they make cheeseburgers with french fries and say baked beans I simply only eat 2 or 3 cheeseburgers and don't mess with the carby type foods. I am sure a similar approach would work for you.

Thank you both! Yes, I do try to give them some healthier snacks they do eat several different kinds of fruits and veggies anyway. I just didn't want to have to make separate meals for all of us. But like you said, making a potato or rice for them to go along with a meal would work from time to time.
Thank you so much!

Kim.... I (along with a lot of people here) cook "dual purpose" meals
I cook a protein and veggie for my husband and I
and sometimes add in a side dish like cous cous or rice just for my husband
or if I make burgers.... I just grill a couple potato wedges for him
It's easy.... ;)
