Hi
just bought a test kit for ketosis. Ketostix . the hastle i had getting them felt like a drug user. lol

My question is when is best to test and how many carbs would knock you out of ketosis

i done a quick test today and according to the strips there was no ketones in my pee?!?

i have lost most my weight this way on low carb so would be confusing if were not in ketosis

Hi gould, my understanding is you really don't have to be in ketosis to lose weight. I usually test first thing in the morning. I find strawberries take me down to small or almost trace amounts of ketones. I don't sweat it because they're the only type of fruit I can eat without causing cravings. I'm carb sensitive so I try to stay around 20 grams. I have tested before and after the berries and I can see the difference. I hope this helps.

Lots of ways for ketones to go missing from your pee. You can burn them for fuel in place of glucose. You get better at doing that the longer you're in ketosis. Then you can drink enough liquid that the ketones are too dilute to pick up on the sticks.

Anyway, it's nothing to be concerned about. You'll lose weight or not and the sticks won't matter one bit.
