Hey guys,
I've been reading some great recipies from this website:http://users3.ev1.net/~fontlady/index.html

Question:
what are the brands of cream cheese one can use during induction??:confused:
All the recipies i have downloaded are induction friendly but there's cream cheese in some of them.

Also, if she says that the portion size is 4 - 6... I feel i could eat the lot right now.... does that mean I have to multiply the carbs by the number of portion sizes i eat??? :eek:
help me?? pretty please :D

I always use the store brand or Philidelphia Cream Cheese brand....whichever is cheaper.
All the recipies i have downloaded are induction friendly but there's cream cheese in some of them.
In DANDR, it states that you should limit cream cheese to 3-4 ounces per day.
Also, if she says that the portion size is 4 - 6... I feel i could eat the lot right now.... does that mean I have to multiply the carbs by the number of portion sizes i eat???
If you eat, say, 2 servings then you would double the nutritional information. If you eat three, you should triple it, and so on.

If they give a carb count it is normally by serving. So every time you eat one serving count the carb.

As for cream cheese check the labels. All the brands and varieties within the brands are different. Then decide if the trade off between the regular fat, less fat and low fat is worth the carb difference. I use a brand that has a "less fat" just because on that brand the carb count is lowest on that variety.

thanks guys :) is sour cream the same as full fat cream?? i dont know the difference... not sure i get this in India :(

Sour cream and cream cheese is different...

Soulmia, when you get your copy of DANDR, you'll find the answers to a lot of questions.

Sour cream and heavy cream (fluid) are different, although they derive from the same basic substance. You can make your own sour cream out of heavy cream (somewhere on the internet you should be able to discover how). In the US, it's easily purchased ready-made. Sour cream has at least a third fewer calories than cream, but it is used for different purposes. It's good for dips, dressings, and baking.

In any case, both sour cream and cream should be eaten in limited quantities, according to DANDR.

thanks you guys... i'm sure you get sour cream somewhere , i just haven't found it yet ( hmn... new mission :lol: ) but i'll look online for a sour cream recipe too.... thanks again

A nice thing we have in Europe that you may also have in India is creme fraiche, which can be used in a lot of recipes that call for sour cream. You might also have a version of sour cream similar to the Swedish "gräddfil", which is a thinner version; mixed with creme fraiche you get something very close to U.S. style sour cream. Otherwise, you can make your own by adding about 2 tablespoons of vinegar or lemon juice to 250 ml or so of fresh cream. Stir it up and let it sit for at least five minutes before using. Adjust the amount of lemon juice or vinegar to get the degree of sourness that suits your taste.
