Honey, you need to pick a plan first. There are so many out there, Atkins, South Beach, the low GI plan.....chose one first, then buy a book. We can tell you to eat such and such but you are much better getting fully prepaired first.
Good luck!

Kerrybee,
It definitely depends on your plan. The most popular is Atkins, where you need to have less than 20g of carbs per day for the Induction phase. On South Beach, you don't count carbs or calories, but you restrict all sugar (even fruit) and all flours and starches for Phase 1. The main difference between the two is that on South Beach, you also have to watch your fat. On Atkins, you can eat fatty things like bacon.

Browse around the different plans on here to see which one would fit you best. Then, buy the book. I think Atkins is about $5 on the Barnes and Noble website right now - a really worthwhile investment. Good luck!

Protein Power also allows you to have 20 grams of carbs a day.

I have to agree with the other, you need to decide what plan will work for you.
