How can I view posts by most recent ones first?

Look at the bar at the top of your screen where it says "User CP, FAQ, Members...etc) Click on the drop down arrow next to "Quick Links" and the first one is New Posts.

I'm not sure if this might fix your problem: (Usually, if I post these sorts of questions under "Comments Box and Technical Questions" the moderators swoop in and cure everything in a jiffy:) )

Try this..
Click on User CP (control panel) in the coloured stripe above
Go to Edit Options on the left
Scroll down to the Thread options box
Check Linear-Newest First
Then scroll to the bottom and click save changes
