Hi everyone. I'm Lauren, I'm 19 and I live in CA. I'm doing Atkins induction right now. I eat fish so it hasn't been tooo hard, but I'm really wondering what I'm going to do when I go back to college. I realize its going to be soooo much harder, and I was wondering how I can continue to do lowcarb there. I'm OK for breakfast and lunch, but for dinner my only option is going to be a salad, and I KNOW thats not going to cut it for an entire year. So, do you think I'll be able to get away with eating more once I lose the weight this summer...Can I maintain eating the bars, shakes, nuts, peanut butter, etc? I don't know what else to do as I won't have a kitchen. Sorry for rambling on so long. Any advice is appreciated. Have a happy day! :)

By the time you leave for college you should be out of the induction phase. I would suggest following atkins reccomendations..slowly add back in 5grams per week. Experiment...see what works. Why only salad for dinner? Won't they have protein choices for dinner...chicken, veggies. etc. My best advice is to make a back up plan...and more importantly is watch your portion sizes. As you add back in slowly in the next few weeks you should discover what will keep you on track and what will throw you out of ketosis. I would stick w/ protein for dinner and salad for lunch. Best of luck

Thanks for the advice, Mosie. I'm going to start adding things back, but I think I'm going to stick to induction till the 22nd. I only eat fish so therein lies the problem. My school cafeteria pretty much never makes fish and I won't be able to cook. So I'm going to NEED to add in other things. I guess I might have to see for myself, but I was wondering if anyone knew from experience.

Hi
If you are going to college during the day ,there is probably a better chance you will find a better selection on campus. Night time students like me there is a VERY limited choice so I have to eat before I get to class ,off campus. I am very limited in what snacks I can eat because of allergies. Annie

Its pretty simple actually, I ate whatever was served in the cafetaria and just skipped the bread/pasta.. I had no problem having a piece of breaded chicken/hotdogs. I also had cottage cheese a lot.

I lived in a dorm and no kitchen, I had a george forman grille, pizzazz oven, and a fridge. Foods I brought with me were LC tortillas, cheese, pepperoni, frozen meats (steaks, burger patties), pork rinds, diet soda, etc. theres quite a bit you can bring and not need a whole kitchen worth of stuff.

Fast food options are open too, burgers w/o the bun.. you know the routine.
