hello, ive been on adkins for over a year and a half now and have lost 110 lbs as of today..i am 66 years old and very much limited to any physical activites and therefore have found that in order for me to looose i have to keep my carbs low and also watch my calories...everyone said it couldnt be done without exercising, but it can..just a lot slower then all you spring chicks!anyway i started at 285 lbs and weighed in this morn at 175 lbs..i still haveanother 40 lbs to go and found that these forums really help..i was in adkins forum but seems no one post there anymore...am looking forward to reading about you all..and if there are any senior citizens out there that are winners..lets hear from ya..

WOW!! 110 pounds - that's awesome!! Congratulations. Welcome to the forum, it's great that you found it! You are going to enjoy yourself. You said "very much limited to any physical activites" - are you able to lift a few pounds and use your arms? If so, there is no reason why you can't do cardio sitting in a chair. Just lift those weights, (they can even be cans of soup and graduate up to jugs of milk!) Get them going and before you know it you will have your heart rate in your training zone & be burning fat! You could also check your library, I'm sure they have would have a book or two....

Congratulation, you give me hope. How many calories did you start with?
Did you lose weight evenly throughout the months or was it a lot at the beginning and then you had to cut the calories to get the weight loss going again.
Time for you to start a journal, people will want to know what you eat everyday.

due to my secondary lifestyle and age i have to stay within a 1000-1200 cal range and around 40 carbs a day...the first month or two i lost 8 t0 10 lbs a month pretty steadily...now im lucky if i lose a lb a week..it really fluxuates..down two-up one etc..i do weigh every day and keep a food diary and use fitday to record every morsel..ive only lost 5 lbs this year so far, but hey. i prob could have gained double that!! i have found one thing that i can not live without..my magic bullet blender...they are a life saver for me for making quick egg. ham and chicken salad...walgreens here have they for half the price of tv add and they are well worth the price...i keep some kind of mixer in refrig at all times for quick meal to grab
