My friend introduced me to this forum. I am thinking about low carb, especially since Diabetes runs in my family. I don't believe I really want to delve into Atkin but Carb Addicts looks more my speed or the South Beach Diet. Any tips for the CAD or SBD?

Hello and welcome to the forum,

I'm sure soon you'll find out how many friendly folks are in this place to offer you support, encouragement and advice. I recently joined and a couple of gals suggested to open a Journal (http://forum.lowcarber.org/forumdisplay.php?f=36). It has proven to be a great tool to enable other fellow members to come visit with you and check on your progress.

No matter what plan you chose, you aready have made one important decision. I wish you the best in your journey.

Hi urbangyrl,

I'm new here as well, but I've been doing lc kinda sorta for a year and a half. Back in high school I did carb addicts, and I've gotta tell ya, I lost weight, and the reward meals were fun, but afterwards, you feel pretty awful. I didn't feel comfortable on it and I figure all the back and forth with your blood sugar probably isn't the best thing in the world for your health... I'm doing Atkins now, and when I'm doing it right, I feel great.

As for South Beach, I know little about it, other than that it is very similar to Atkins (same phases and all), only more restrictive with fat and such. But I haven't read the book, so don't take my word for it.

Now I need to stop procrastinating and get back to studying for finals.

Good luck figuring it all out,
:) babyblue21

i think you should read the books for each woe. then decide what you could better stay on track with. i personally like atkins because i eat until i am full. i don't go hungry, with me leads to cheating and binge eating.
good luck!
