I've seen statements like this on this board:

" I can't lose on anything over 30g carbs"

or

" I can't lose on anything over 40g carbs"

How does this work where one goes from 30g carbs to, say 35g carbs, and stops losing?

Am I losing my mind?

...."How does this work "........
- just by cuting your protien portion everytime by 1/3....and if that dont wrok cut another 1/3......till you reach...54g per day......

.......Hope you are not upset with me poping here and telling you that....he he he

Take care.........................and let me know.....................:-)

Seems to me that energy balance is the key issue, such a small difference in carb count wouldn't matter.

If for some reason ketosis is the key to a particular person losing weight (and given an equal number of calories a person might stall when out of ketosis) I suppose adding just enough carbs to kick someone out of ketosis might be it. Seems unlikely though.

What we don't know on these boards is, How much are you REALLY eating? Mine varies so much. I can't tell for sure, but I suspect there's some wishful thinking / measuring going on. FAR easier to blame the stall on 5 carbs than on the slop that's been slipping into portion size and frankenfood and second helpings and the like.

We picked up a magazine in the store today (First--a woman's magazine), which has an excellent article (The Complete Women's Guide to Atkins) and how this way of eating works differently for women than it does for men. I don't think we can blame all the problems people run into losing weight on getting sloppy with their eating habits. Basically what many women have run into is that they need to tweak their eating plan occasionally to have good results.

This I agree with, too. One carbohydrate may not make the difference between ketosis or not, but five sure can by upsetting an individual's particular balance, and quite simply many don't lose weight without that advantage.

My first question would be how long they waited to determine that the loss stopped. Maybe it slowed them to a pound or two a month and they're simply not happy with that rate. Some people would call losing a pound in one month "not losing"...when in fact...they're still shedding weight, but at a slower rate.
