Has anyone been on his Protocol? Just wondered what you thought/how much it helped you.

Am considering going on it, but would be interested in any feedback first.

There are lots of people who will make promises of a cure and take your money. Why don't you start with someone who will "cure" you for a few thousand dollars less.

Basically because I have had CFS for 10 years now, and have tried several cheaper approaches, with no improvement. For the last year, I have been bedridden, and unable to even get to the loo on my own. I am pretty desperate to do whatever it takes just to be able to get myself to a level where I can look after myself.

What attracted me to Petrovic is his recorded success rate. I have read through the studies since '96 and it does look very encouraging. Maybe if I were a little better I'd feel more open to trying more free or cheaper approaches first, as it is I have given too many years of my life to this illness and if I'm going to throw money at a treatment, I'd rather one that actually has a success rate.

Thanks for replying, and for the links, have you tried any of these protocols (assuming you also have CFS/ME/FMS)? Is there any reference online where I can check out success rates?

Thanks,
Katie.

Katie, I know how desperate you are, I apologize for my flippant remarks - I thought you were trying to promote this protocol. I am exactly in the same condition as you after spiraling downward for the past 15 years. CFIDS/FMS/ME is not understood and currently there is no treatment and no cure. There are a few protocols based on theories. I've never heard of Petrovic previously but I do know that most serious doctors and researchers freely share their protocol and not charge $2600 and more for their "secret recipe". I am very leary of these "cure" claims, especially at such a price. There are many people who will take advantage of desperate people.
Teitelbaum *has* CFIDS & I believe St.Amand's wife has FMS - they have very personal interests in curing these diseases and sharing their findings with others. The following are message boards that discuss these protocols. I wish I had the strength to be more helpful, I believe you will have better luck discussing health matters on a message board that discusses these matters and not a diet message board.

No probs Cindy, no need to appologise for 'flippant remarks', those of us that have suffered long-term with this are naturally sceptical and with good reason.

You're probably right about being better off looking on specialist forums rather than diet ones - I popped in here for info on Candida to start with.

I'll have a look on those links you provided, thanks.

The reason I'm so interested in Petrovic is because on my 'travels' (lol) I have met a lot of people who have got well, and the name Petrovic just keeps cropping up. I know there is no cure yet for CFS, but I do feel that some doctors are getting closer. Petrovic is expensive and I really can't afford it on the one hand, but on the other in all the studies I have read up on, only one person didn't improve considerably and that's something I don't want to ignore.

I've had so many people tell me what a wonderful difference Petrovic has made to their illness, and basically I'm asking around to see if I can find people who have tried it and it HASN'T helped lol. I'm definitely not promoting something I haven't tried!

Sorry to hear you're 'where I am'. It's a nightmare.

I'm looking at his protocol too. I'm also wondering if it's legitimate. Do you any updated informoration... and do you think there is anyway to verify if he is a valid doctor with valid medication and if all those testimonies and Dr. forums are truthful?

According to my research,... there's nothing ... let me say.. totally new with the medication he made. It's mainly what he calls "immuno modulatory." which is basically the cause of the problem in many CFIDS, autoimmune, and other post viral fatigue.

The goal is to control the immune system that is causing the breakdown of the body. In addition to that process, he's protocol supplies anti oxidants and and anti inflammatories to support the body. I'm just hoping this stuff is real.
