http://smtp3.thewwwstore.com/puddin/181S.JPG
Makes 2 Cups
Ingredients:
2 Tablespoons of olive oil 1 Cup of almonds 1 Cup of pecans Kosher saltSpice Mix:
¼ Teaspoon of ginger powder ¼ Teaspoon of cinnamon ½ Teaspoon of ground cumin ½ Teaspoon of chili powder ½ Teaspoon of curry powder ½ Teaspoon of garlic powder ¼ Teaspoon of cayenne pepperDirections:
Heat oven to 325º. Add all the spices in a small bowl, blend well and set aside. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a non-stick sautè pan over medium. Add the spice mixture, sautè while stirring over low heat for about 3 to 4 minutes forming a loose paste. Put the almonds and pecans in a bowl, add the spice paste and stir to cover the nuts completely. Spread the nuts out on a cookie sheet and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring once or twice. Liberally sprinkle with the kosher salt to taste and let cool.Cook's Notes
There is not a whole lot of side notes or comments to add to this recipe. I am not even really sure I remember where I got it from but it has become a family and friends classic. Every year just before Christmas, I get at least 5 calls from people asking me if I still have this recipe. (Cause they loose it every year). This was always one of Becaboos favorites and she asked me to post it. These are great to put in a tin and give as a gift (like in the picture above) or just to have sitting around the house to have something really good to nibble on.
