I think this is just too hard! I'm frustrated to all HE!! right now. I started this woe in the early part of March and I weighed 178 well today I stepped on the scale and I weigh 178!
Since I started I stopped taking an antidepressant, I got off BC pills and even had my tubes tied and I stopped all low carb treats a month ago thinking they were a cause of a stall. I exercise daily (not BFL anymore though) and drink water, I find myself hungry only after I started eating something...let me explain, I could go most of the am without eating breakfast but once I do I get the hungry munchies and I never feel satisfied the same goes for lunch and dinner. I have tweaked here and there upping protein, upping carbs, upping fat, lowering fat, lowering carbs, lowering protein, drinking more water, lifting more weights, doing more cardio, sleeping more, moving more, taking supplements, taking more supplements, turning my bathroom into a mini GNC, taking deep breaths, and still nothing!
Help! I'm so frustrated and I can't vent to my low-carb friends or they will say, see I told you so.
I know this weight won't come off over night but some progress would be helpful, oh and I remeasured and the loss of 4.75 inches must have been a fluke because they are all back!
I know this is a WOE for me but I want some proff it works for weightloss too.

So you want a magic fat disappearing trick http://www.smilies-world.de/Smilies/Smilies_klein_1/smilie_zauber.gif
I think the problem may be the "tweaking".
Try no Tweats and no Tweaks and go back to basic induction. Literally by the book.
Accurately count the carbs. <20
Eat:
Protein from pure sources - No shakes. No bars, just Meat, Fish, Fowl,Shellfish.and eggs. (limited real cheese. no whey cheese or proceesed chees products)
Salad greens(no tomatoes) and low carb veggies
Drink:
Decaffeinated tea and coffee (cream, no milk)
Water
No Alcohol
See if this shakes few pounds loose.
Start a diary, use http://fitday.com To check your carbs.

And one other suggestion: EAT BREAKFAST. Skipping morning protein could be one of the major causes of the stall. If you don't, your blood sugar goes really wonky and then you can't control your intake at lunch and the rest of the day - you just get desperate.
All that exercise has probably changed your size because muscle has taken the place of fat. How are your clothes fitting? (Forget what that nasty, inaccurate scale thing says.)
You mentioned tubal ligation which is a surgical procedure requiring healing. And that makes your body less likely to release any of its assets until you are completely well again. (6-8 weeks).
The frustration is hard to handle but I agree with rustpot - Keep It Simple and go by the book.
All the best.

Wow! Be easy on yourself. Big changes like the ones above require some time for your body to "recalibrate" itself. You can't force it, so be gentle and give yourself time. Even though you have seen no weight loss for a while, you're still doing the best thing you can do for yourself.

I agree with everything that has been suggested to you so far...
BTW, wanting a "Magic Pill" seems like an odd suggestion from someone who's just made a point of giving up anti-depressants and BCs...
By all means go back to the book and repeat Induction...clean Induction, no LC-ish treats (bars or shakes), no LC ice cream from the Atkins site (as noted in your journal), etc. It's only 2 weeks and you've come this far...
Eat breakfast! I understand why people sometimes skip meals...you may just not feel hungry. But it's important to eat.
Drink lots of water. In your journal entries, you acknowledge that maybe you don't drink enough water.
I also agree that you're asking a lot of yourself in a short period. Lordy mercy, you've had surgery, you've stopped taking prescription meds. Plus, you're trying to LC and exercise....that's why I think it might be worthwhile to try Induction again.
Let's also acknowledge the roll that stress plays in any weight loss/health program.
Good luck to you...
P.S. The "Magic Pill" idea may sound good to some, but what would you have learned if one was available--only how to take a pill. This way, you're educating yourself, you're taking control and learning lessons that will benefit you (and others) for a lifetime.

Since I started I stopped taking an antidepressant, I got off BC pills and even had my tubes tied and I stopped all low carb treats a month ago thinking they were a cause of a stall.
Be careful!! DO NOT STOP TAKING YOUR ANTIDEPRESSANTS!! I stopped them for a week and went into an anxiety attack (which I had not had for over 6 months.) It took a good 3 days to get myself to normal. What antidepressants were you taking? Prozac causes weight gain but Wellbutrin is wonderful. It has actually helped people who are on a diet lose weight. Ask you doctor.
And yes, you have to have breakfast. If you are not hungry, try a hard boiled egg with mayo...something small but with protein and fat. How about nuts?? There are a lot of food with protein and fat that you can munch on. I have 3 meals a day with 2 snacks. The snacks are usually 2 hours after lunch and 2 after dinner.

Hi Wise1,
Hold on you will be OK as everyone before me has said.
I have noticed on ething that we do or should I say had in common...
That breakfast thingy!! I used to eat breakfast and then be hungry in a few hours, shakes and all... I skipped breafast and was fine til lunch.
OK, here is what I did, I am to busy in the am to make breakfast, getting out the door and such, so I go to MD's get 2 egg mcmuffins, throw away the muffins, or sometimes my secretary will eat the muffins. (I scrape the cheese off if it with a knife)
I eat one of them, drink around 16 oz of water... Then in a couple of hours I would eat the other with another 16oz water... (before I got to feeling hungry) Then all of a sudden one day, I fogot to eat the second one!!! Now, I'm just having one, with 32-40 oz of water each morning and then eating lunch sometime between noon and 1!!! My body finally adjusted, I don't need that fix in between.
Now another thingy with surgery, your body hangs on to everything, I just had some minor work done, now I haven't gained, but I haven't lost either but it is because, your body is preserving everything so it can heal, it will then let go of it nturally when it doesn't need ti any longer. The human body is a wonderful thing (most of the time)
Yo Yo dieters are the worst bodies to deal with, your body's natural instinct as soon as you go on a diet is to slow down and hng on, afraid it isn't going to get what it "think" it needs and to be perfectly honest, if you are into those starvation diets, you body is actually right! It needs food for fuel, water, fat and protein to do its stuff. Every cell in your body needs water to function correctly (thus a fluid retetion when something needs to heal) Your muscles need protein, this is why lo protein (low calorie) diets loose muscle, and very little fat. Your body aslo needs fat, too keep things well oiled! Dry skin is an indication that you aren't getting enough fat in your diet.
Stay with it, listen to your body, let it heal. You will be OK.
I personally have to remain on a permanent induction level to lose weight, non of the luxery items, but you know what, that's OK because I feel terrific this way. My WOL gives me an added benifit of weight loss!!! I am not on a diet.

I know you are all right, I actually don't skip breakfast but I wait till 10:00am to eat it so I'll try to eat as soon as I get up and see if that helps. I also havn't gotten up past 30 carbs yet so maybe I'm one of those metabolic resistant ones that needs to keep the carbs real low.
My reason for stopping the antideppressants were for weightloss but I really don't feel the need for them anymore. I suffer from SAD so the springs and summers have always been better for me then winter but I do have tons of energy and never need afternoon naps anymore. Which I believe is a direct result from lcing.
I need to stay away from the scale, it does nothing good for me! But it seems to call me in the morning I think I'm going to need to hide them...our family has three  don't ask just know that theirs always one available.
I will keep things simple and see if that helps.
Thankyou!

Actually there is no magic pill for healthy weight loss. The 'magic' lies in your food intake and your discipline.
There was a recent case of a slimming pill victim, who died from acute liver failure due to a banned substance found in the consumed slimming pill. It has since spread to other countries, and their health ministries stepped up on preventing such things from happening. Sales of slimming pills/teas went down 20% with immediate effect.
Will you rather fall for a need for a liver transplant or rather keep your carb intake to less than 20g a day????
Everyone is born unequal, and that means you may or may not have a harder time losing on LC than others. but at least you will have a healthier body. You can try the pant-o-meter as an alternative.
Hope these help.

More then likely it is the antidepressents and BC pills that are slowing you down...even after you stop taking them it WILL take some time for your body to adjust...the anti -depressents can stay in your system for awhile...have patience and DO focus on the healthy eating first and foremost and the weight will eventully drop in the long run...my siter who was super thin her whole life went on anti-dep medication gained a good 15 lbs ...it took her a few months and even without LCing her body eventully dropped the weight
Peace:)

even had my tubes tied
Many people tend to underestimate this particular surgery, since it is laproscopic and leaves you with 2 small 'bandaid' incisions. DON'T! It was still a serious surgery, it confused your insides, it changed some of the blood flow pathways, and it can change your hormone production for a while because of the jostling and the change in blood flow.
Please be really, really gentle with your body for 6-8 weeks while it works out how the furniture is rearranged and stops stubbing its toes!
Both the hormonal changes and the healing can really slow your weight loss because your body has other very high priority items to deal with.
Do a clean induction, do the program as written for a few more weeks, then see what you get.
Don't forget that you're healing and your body is requiring extra energy and nutrients. Be sure you're taking your vitamins and getting adequate calories!

I just switched from Zoloft to Prozac because of the weight issue (and some other issues). I've been on Prozac before with no weight gain. I switched to Zoloft to breastfeed (now that time is long past). I gained 25 lbs. on the Zoloft. Each antidepressant is different for different people. And yes, many CAN make you gain weight. The studies the pamphlets base themselves on are usually less than 6-month studies. Additional studies for longer than 6 months very often show weight gain in various antidepressants.
I put "Zoloft is weight gain neutral" right up there with "Zoloft is not habit-forming"...in my "B*llsh*t File".

Oh My goodness this is a post I wrote almost three years ago and boy has things changed. I'm thrilled that someone posted to this mesage and it was sent to my email.
In July 2003 I found a low carb book called Lean For Life and believe it or not it WAS my magic pill! I was able to follow the plan to a T and lose 43 pounds and I have been maintaining my weight for over 2 years now.
No matter how I tweaked Atkins never worked for me, it just was to high in fat for me but everybody is different and I think it's important to find what works for each one of us.
Thankyou all for your replies, God I remember how desperate I was the night I posted this message and thank goodness I didn't stop looking for what was right for me.
I became a success!
