I can eat most of the bars but one I couldn't finish was the Carb Solutions Blueberry bars. My favorite is the Atkins peanut butter bars, I actually enjoy not only the taste but the texture as well.

But I only eat maybe 1 or 2 bars a week.

The atkins bars make my tongue feel strange..
But I'd have to say, that I just bought a box of Carb solution low carb bars, the chocolate chip cookie dough, and i find that half of a bar satisfies me when i feel the need to have something sweet tasting. they do not taste anything like cookie dough batter though.. (that would be a dream come true) but like i said, it does satisfy me when i feel that urge... and it doesnt leave my tongue feeling yukky. i bought an atkins peanut butter one.. one bite and it went into the garbage. i rather have a tablespoon of smuckers all natural, no sugar added peanut butter. the bar didnt even come close to tasting like peanut butter.

Definately the EAS bars! I gagged, my children gagged, and the three I bought all went in the trash. They were awful to the point of not being able to get rid of the taste for two days! They actually tasted like biting into a big ole vitamin. Bleck!

I have an occasional Cinnamon bun bar. Not very good but edible. Tried the Carbolite Toffee bar. Not good enough to eat again. Since they're all so pricey, I'll stick to real food or do without.

I'm one of the crazy people who actually likes most of the atkins bars. heh heh. Coconut was definitely one of the best though, it is very "real" tasting.

The worst bar I had was an Ultimate Low Carb 2 Bar (or something like that). I think it was chocolate something. But man was it nasty, and I am NOT picky when it comes to low carb bars, I'll eat most brands! Bleah, it was so yuck.

Talking Hmmm...the verdict

I didn't start this thread, but my verdict is that nobody really likes these things.

Too bad we can't send this to Dr. Atkins and the others and say, "Fix it!"

That's a great idea! The only kind of protein bar I've had was the Carb Solutions peanut butter....I can't get through a whole bar! I can only eat half of one before feeling like I have to gag...oh well.

I've tried the Pure Delight low carb candy bars and they are really good. They have all different flavors and all have only 1-2 carbs per bar!
Here is the link

You can get em at WalMart too.

Post Hi

I like the Lemon and the Berry Cheesecake Advantage bars. The Cinnamon isn't bad. I agree with a previous post, if you expect a sweet treat and not a breakfast, you will be disappointed. Its meant to subsitute for a meal, thus not spiking your sugar and causing cravings within hours. I find the bars wonderful because I'm allergic to dairy and eggs so its a nice "breakfasty" thing that I have with my red tea.
Well that's my vote.

You know what's terrible? Those Low Carb bars.. oh my gosh they are horrible!! Which is too bad, they had a vanilla bar...

Default I Love the atkins advantage bars! However those other ones....

I Love the atkins bars, especially the peanut butter one. In fact, I was getting a little too dependant on that bar, that I have strted buying ones that are not quite as good (although still good) My current box is pralines and cream, which is good. As for the other bars on the market, I keep tring them and thinking they will be good, but no! The EAS and the carb solutions bars are equally disgusting! I bought a carb solutions shortbread cookie once, and it was by far the worst thing I ever tried to eat in my life. I took one bite and that was it. I even managed to finish that nasty blueberry carb solutions bar (it looks so good from the outside..)

Worst: Atkins Lemon Chiffon, tastes like wet cardboard

Best: Atkins Chocolate Decadence, tastes like cardboard with chocolate flavoring. But it seems to be the one that's always sold out, so the concensus must be that it is one of the better ones. Almond brownie is alright too, but both are only good in limited quantites - like a small bite or two per indulgence.

All of the Atkins bars I've tried- I've only had cookies and cream, chocolate mocha crunch anc chocolate decadence- were pretty good. I have to say I REALLY liked the chocolate decadence.

Now the few EAS bars I tried were gross. The lemon cheesecake was AWFUL and the chocolate chipe brownie was worse. I was craving something sweet the night I tried the chocolate chip brownie and it was just horrible! Tasted like it had coconut flavoring in it or something. I looked at the ingredients and there was no mention of anything coconut, which just grossed me out even further cause then I wondered what made it taste like coconut. On the upside it did knock my craving for something sweet out.... but it also made me nauseous lol

Post Just a thought

I wonder if our tastes in bars are also affected by how often we have sweets and if we still have sweet cravings or not.
I don't make sweet treats and my only sweet thing I have is an Advantage bar or a Fruit2O (Which I dilute with water). I also don't crave sweet things. I think that has alot to do on how bars taste as well.. Do you think so?

Question Maybe.

Lessara--That's a very good point. Although I think that even if I weren't low-carbing they would taste like a burnt pizza and moldy coffee shake.

I did try one when I wasn't low-carbing and my in-laws were. My father in law said "here, try it. It's good!"
It was the berry cheesecake. And I looooooove cheesecake.
I spit it out.
