Default Cake substitue?

Hi There,

What would you substitue for a birthday cake for someone who is doing induction?

What would you like on your birthday rather than a cake?

Arnie

Default Cake?

How about LC Cheesecake they have several recipes in the
recipe forum...or just a nice gift non food! I haven't had birthday cake in years. (And Don't Really Miss It!)

Good Luck!
Julie

You could take a cake recipe, substitute the flour with flaxseed meal or almond flour or soy powder, substitute the sugar with Splenda (half as much, probably), and make any other necessary subs. It won't be a light and fluffy cake, but it would do. Frost with whipped cream.

My son is doing a birthday "cake" this weekend. He's using two round layers of low-carb cheesecake with a cream cheese frosting in the middle and whipped cream frosting all around and on top. Then, he will slice a bit of fruit for a garnish on top. We haven't tried it before and it might not work, but that's the plan.

Oh, you could bring them to the Fish House for a nice low-carb dinner and finish the meal off with a piece of low-carb chocolate Silk Pie. Only 8 grams ECC per piece. You'll even get a candle in it!

Use sugar free Jello with some sweetened, whipped heavy cream. It's delicious and very low in carbs and calories. Quite satisfying too.

Good Luck!

Default try a flourless chocolate cake!

I'm not a big fan of baked goods made with bake mixes, nut flours, or soy flours, so I *love* the flourless fudgy chocolate cake from www.lowcarbluxury.com:

http://www.lowcarbluxury.com/recipes/recipe-cake12.html

It's a very dense, filling cake -- the recipe says 10 servings, but I usually slice it for 12 because that's about all I can eat. It's good by itself (especially for breakfast!), but I also like to fix it with a sugar-free cream cheese frosting and sift a little unsweetened cocoa over the top for a pretty look.

Wow, all excellent ideas. This site is so great! I ask what I was afraid most people would consider a stupid question and I get back all these wonderful replies. What did people do before the internet?

Thanks,
Arnie
