I know what you mean about the carbs. I think the only thing that I was allowed to eat was the turkey. So a little here and a little bit there, I guess wasn't too bad. Not anything like I would normally have done. It's real hard when you're not the one in charge of the menu. I didn't want to ruin the time with my family by worring about what I could and could not eat, so I decided I wouldn't. When I do that, I need to remember to increase my exercise though.
Glad to hear you are back on track and your holiday was great.

Default SE Portland low-carb resources

Hi Ladies!

There's a low-carb store in Southeast Portland on 39th between Hawthorne and Division. I think it's called Low Carbaret. Open 7 days a week.

GNC stores (Mall 205 is closest to me) carry a few Atkins and other LC products.

Fred Meyer has 3 of the Atkins baking mixes on sale now for $4.99: Blueberry muffin, pancake mix and brownie mix. Half the time I go, the brownie mix is sold out. It is VERY good and you can add nuts to the mix. Blueberry muffins are good too. And the corn bread mix is excellent (there's another thread praising it).

I have got to check out that LC ice cream! Has anybody found an Oregon store that carries it? I rarely get to Vancouver (FT job, school, 20-mile commute to work).

Thumbs up The ice cream is awesome!

I tried the ice cream at the Lake Oswego store and definitely agree it's awesome! It's nice to know we'll have a legal alternative when we're in the mood for ice cream. Anyone know how late they're open in the evening?

Talking I'm here in Portland, too

I am here in Portland. There is a lo-carb store on 39th and Lincoln over here. I don't know if it is any good. I would like to try some of that lo-carb ice cream.

Default Popsicles

have any of you tried the sugar free popsicles?

I think they are a great way to get my "sweet tooth" satisfied.

Hi Fellow Oregonians,

I've bought a couple of items from the Low Carb Store in Portland on 39th. It's a pretty good store, but a little pricey. They carry low carb bread, desserts, protein bars, and low carb drinks. It's maltitol/sucralose paradise if you're looking for that. I bought some cookies there and they were delicious. The guy who runs the place is pretty friendly and a rabid LCer. Anyway, let me know if you guys get together. I'll see if I can join you.

Tom

Default Washington girl!

Happy to find this thread! I live in Vancouver, WA and I've gone to the Low Carb Habit many times. They have a great selection. You still have to be careful of hidden carbs but if you're needing a fix on something, they've got it.

I'll be checking back to see about those "meetings" maybe i'll call tomorrow. The first Monday in January is the 6th. It would be cool to go to one and maybe bump in to some of you!

Happy LC'ing
Shaneice

Default Getting Together

I just looked at my calendar and I have a business meeting in Salem that evening. Hopefully I can go to the next one.

Say has anyone tried a "carb-blocker"? What is that all about?

Hi Acipenser,
Things are going great.
I went to the "Low Carb Habit" (located in Vancouver, WA) meeting in January. They actually had to have two because so many people were interested. I had to sign up for the second class. There were a lot of people there. The place was packed. They served samples of some of the items they sell. It was a great meeting for those people who are new to Atkins and low carbing. They have another meeting tonight. Not sure if I can make it tonight.
Well I'm off to a meeting. Just thought I would check in.
Happy Low Carbing!
