Tyrelle... the second link didn't work.

Also, what do the numbers to the right of the item mean exactly, and how do we use this table to decide what to eat? For instance, donuts are HIGH on the list, but they're high in fat.

I got this from one of dan's post:

=====================================
It's best to carb-up using foods that are high on the Glycemic Index for the first part of your carb up, and then transition to ones that are lower GI later in the carb-up ... say until Sunday afternoon. For the last carb-up meal, I make it higher GI (brekfast cereal works for me). Forget where I read to do that ...

I have found this approach to be "the right way" for me. You may want to experiment with it and find what workd best for your body.

As you said, there are lots of gray areas. And everyone has a different body chemistry, so you will need to play with things to see what combination works best/feels right for you.

That is is "real world" answer.

Somwhere in this forum are several threads about carb-ups. You can try searching for them. One weekend I listed my foods for the first 24 hours of my carb-up ... Not that you should take that as law. LOL. Just showing some examples.

====================================

So the higher the number the better for the first 24 hrs then lower GI's the send 24 hour.

Try this link..it's suppose to download an excel spreadsheet:

Thank you so much, tyrelle! You've been a tremendous help!!

You know, I also discovered that I WAS reading the parameters wrong: the total calories for the carb up days was total CARB calories, and I was counting everything...protein included. It made a huge difference when I saw where I really stood with the whole thing.

Looks like I'm right on schedule.

I'm going to take a look at that spreadsheet tomorrow (I downloaded it).

Again, I really appreciate the help.

Good morning. How's Hanna treating you? Where in Alabama are you, btw? I'm in Gulfport, MS.

I downloaded that GI list, but I don't have the program to read it, unfortunately. I have Works, but not Excel.

Thanks anyway.

I'm from Union Springs, near montgomery, AL....but i attend college in Mobile, AL....so we are kinda close :-)

This should help you out.

To view it you need to have either Microsoft Excel—or the free Microsoft Excel 97/2000 Viewer. You can download this viewer at http://office.microsoft.com/downloa.../xlviewer.aspx.

Where are you headed?
I have a friend in the Army, stationed in Georgia. Around Atlanta, I believe. He's been telling me how hot its been down. Have either of you visited up north? (I have never been to Georgia,myself. The southernmost I've reached is Texas, Arizona)

I don't know about tyrelle, but I ended up here because I was a military wife.

Let's see----born in Modesto, CA, raised mostly in the Pismo Beach/Grover City (now Grover Beach) area, moved to Denver Colorado (technically Lakewood, then Aurora...both suburbs), Then to Monterey CA (beeeautiful), then to Texas, then here. We go nearly every week to New Orleans (have more friends there than here in Gulfport), been as far East as Panama Beach, FL. Been to Kansas (was okay), and Arkansas (no comment). I think that's about it. LOL... Oh, and my fiance and I have a standing invitation to Alexandria, Egypt. A friend of ours came here with his wife and children...to train at a local Navy/Seabee base. We all became fast friends and they said, "You only need to worry about getting here (Egypt) and home. You will stay with us." We've not yet acted on that offer...LOL..I'm too chicken to fly right now, and although it's one of my dreams to see Egypt, I think I'll wait until all the crapola blows over first.

Unfortunately there will always be crapola! Eygpt sounds awesome.
Ever been to Iowa? This is the only place that I have ever lived but I have traveled a bit.
I'm going to be out of commission for a few days - have a wedding to attend to out of town this weekend. Feel free to email me directly anytime. cleveriniowa~yahoo.com
