Default diet coke

Hi,
I am on the Atkins. Have been on it for 21 days. I have been following induction pretty closely. I try to have less than 15 carbs a day now. Is "Diet Coke" really that harmful? Also, i eat blue cheese dressing and the carbo lite bars (I like them better than atkins' bars.) Any other snacks / foods to keep me on this diet? (I don't find the Atkins book for well organized) Help please...Thanks

Diet coke has nutrasweet in it, and for some nutrasweet is a stall food. Then again for some others, it is perfectly fine. I think blue cheese dressing is AOK, check the label. The carbo lite bars are another YMMV (Your mileage may var) food, some people it stalls, others it doesn't. I usually have about two a week. The last few weeks, I've cut out the little nutrasweet I was having (Jello cheesecake), and just stuck to the 1/2 carbolite chocolate bars here and there. I don't know if it is just coincedental yet or not, but I've lost 6 pounds in the last 3 last week, where as the 6 weeks before I had only gone down a net of 2.5 pounds.

Sorry I couldn't be more exact, but everyone is different - you will have to find out what your body can and cannot handle.

Snack foods: low sugar beef jerkey, pork rinds, hard boiled eggs, almonds, peacans, macadamia nuts, cheese, pepperoni. Visit the kitchen area on the board, many more ideas there!

I agree with Talon. Diet coke and the carbo lite bars could create stalls for some. If you have been losing fine since you have been eating/drinking these things, you probably don't have a stall...

Hello again.

Just wanted to add-- good snack foods for me is sliced up veggies (celery, radish, etc), sliced up cheese, salami, pepperoni (and other finger meats), and hard-boiled eggs.

The blue-cheese dressing is probably fine. Also, remember even though you are on a LC diet, eat enough carbs. I don't mean eat like 40 or something, but eat close to 20 grams a day. There is a possibility that too low carb could create stalls.

Default It seems ok for me

I actually prefer diet pepsi or diet dr. pepper, but I only drink one when I really want a coke, or I will start drinking too many of them. As for snack foods, I like to keep pork rinds around. Is my form of chips. It keeps me from eating real chips. As for dressing, I like ranch dressing. It has never stalled me, personally. I have to be so strict with other foods, I don't skimp on the dressing.

Induction is suppose to be a strict life style change..Diet coke or Pepsi both have caffine , a no no on induction.. the other is nutrasweet.. also a no no.. Also... calling this a diet is also a no no..
Sorry.. dont hate me,,,,

Seriously.. your doing good if you are losing.. Dr Atkins offers a script for induction.. some follow it to the letter , others dont.. You have to mak a choice to change you way of eating.. doing this for life is doable... and offers a healthy life style change..

Knid Diet Coke evokes an intensely negative sense memory for me. Even simply the chemically bubble fumes that it gives off when popped open bring up horrid flashbacks of my low-fat starvation days. Back then, all I consumed all day long included 2 SlimFasts, plain bagels, salads without dressing, rubbery, poached meats and 6-10 cans of Diet Coke. I am glad to be rid of it.

If you're really just looking for a cola fix, then Diet-Rite cola is made with Splenda. Tastes pretty good without that aspartame aftertaste!

Some people do better on Splenda than they do with Nutrasweet, and some of us can't have sweet things at all. If you stall, it might help to test some of those things out, see what it is that's blocking you.

Cool Diet sodas

I share the same issues with Diet Coke/Pepsi. I usually drink the caffeine free.

I've been on induction for 3 weeks and plan to continue for awhile longer, but the diet sodas are tough to put down. I'm down 15 lbs, so I don't think it's creating a problem, but I do wish I could put them down since carbonated colas aren't real good for you anyway.
