Jeeze, I've had nothing but LUCK w/ Fat Fast...it's the only thing that puts me into ketosis! I am not diagnosed w/ thyroid disease, however, and maybe that's the difference, but I have not been able to lose on any other plan.
There's a full explanation over on the Atkins site at
Fat Fast There are also suggestions from Dr. Atkins on how to modify the Fat Fast for long-term use.
I usually do not take in 1000 calories...usually much more than that, but as long as my fat is over 90%, I lose. Every day. I don't tolerate stalls and plateaus...

I weigh every day, and if I don't lose, I change something...usually it's because I have wandered off Fat Fast into Induction or even OWL...any extra carbs, and I start holding onto water big time! And my weight goes up.
As for being hungry, I make certain that I eat as soon as I have the first idea that I am hungry...and if I need an extra meal, I have it.
The lack of energy could be from a lack of supplements...obviously, one is not getting vitamins and minerals from cream cheese and macadamias, at least not all we require. The B-complex would be missing, and that can sap your energy rather quickly. Dr. Atkins recommends supplements while on Fat Fast.
If you should decide to do it, be sure to read ALL of the information...it's on the website, and in Dr. Atkins' books, too.
Take care.....
