Default Flax-O-Meal on sale

When I read the first couple pages of this thread I laughed so hard tears were streaming down my face. I had to buy some! I've got to taste those twigs!

I clicked on the link at the bottom of the page advertising Flax-O-Meal for $9.99. The link took me to Netrition and it was on sale for $6.99. I bought a couple. Twigs sound so healthy.

Hey Julee -- if you're still lingering around -- is it any good stirred into yogurt? I used to love traditional muesli the way the Swiss make it. That is, oats and rye and things macerated overnight in yogurt. Or does it need to be cooked? I've never had flax.

I'm not Flaxie, but I can tell you that I've been throwing a big spoon of flaxseed meal (straight up!) on my yogurt for quite some time. It's perfectly good eaten as is.

And looking at the nice, clean Ingredient List on the FlaxOmeal, I wouldn't hesitate to do the same with it (but I might be adding some stevia or sugarfree syrup to bring out the flavour if I wasn't adding it to my yummy pre-flavoured sugarfree yogurt that I allow myself as a treat now and then).

Hi Y'all! Hi Judi!!! (waving wildly :-)
Wow, what a couple of weeks it's been around here. Busy trying to get the FlaxOmeal Pizza Crust Mix ready to roll out in about 2 weeks or so. We are TIRED. <grin>
Let's see....yes, our twigomeal is on sale! LOLOLOL We have so much volume we were able to drop the price, which is what I always wanted to do.....provide good food at decent prices, not the overinflated prices you normally see for lowcarb stuff. So far, so good. You can certainly add the hot cereal mix to yogurt....it should add a nice flavor and all that fiber.
Glad you grabbed the cereal at the new lower price....it's really not a sale price, although they say it is. Prices should stay there now for a good while. Enjoy! :-)
Happy Lowcarbing,
Julee

Default The taste of flax

I'm just back on low carb properly having spent the last year pretending, and I've been checking out all kinds of things, including flax. I bought ground flax seed and ground pecans from Bulk Barn at the same time, and I can't tell them apart without tasting them--so I'm getting pretty well acquainted with the taste. I found on my own that mixing it with bran tends to bring out the worst in both (salt and lots of cinammon helps), but the flax has a slight nuttiness that I'm trying to exploit. Most successful have been flax/pecan pancakes. I'll post those once I have them perfected.

Default Welcome Susan!

Hi Susan!

Welcome to the forum. Sorry you couldn't post your introduction. Sometimes there are anomalies that cause us to lose our posts. It can be frustrating. If you want to put up a long post, I suggest writing into a buffer (eg, Word, Works, Notepad) and then copying and pasting it into the reply form. If it gets lost, you'll still have a copy and can try again.

I'd love to try your recipe when it's up.

Thanks for the replies Flaxie and Island Girl. I can hardly wait till my package comes. It's been seven months to the day of meat, eggs, cheese and veggies. I'm ready for some diversity.

Allison

Thumbs up Wow!

I got my package in the mail yesterday. I was braced for the very healthy taste of twigs and pencils. I knew exactly how it would taste. I would get my fiber.

It didn't taste anything like twigs! Or pencils! It brought me back to camping in Yosemite in the sixties when my mother gave us Wheatena for breakfast. I've even bought Wheatena as an adult a couple times. But this was so much better! I love it! It's nutty and comforting and deicious. I ate butter pecan with breakfast and chocolate flavor with lunch. Yum!

Now, Julee, how about some big economy-sized bags? This will become a staple. Thanks for a great breakfast.

Default WTG Allison!

I'm with you...the economy size would be helpful as I seem to always be judging .... how many servings I have left in my bitty bag....of butter pecan! Although I usually have more on the way!

Love my Flax-O-meal cereal!

Cool Okay, I broke down...

and I ordered some butter pecan.

WOW!!!!!!!

It's everything you folks claimed it was and then some. Not enough to make me forget my beloved chocolate, but it's darn tasty!

I do think that of the three remaining options, this one *is* my favorite. I would have to put the cinnamon spice second, and the vanilla almond third.

I haven't tried the banana walnut pancake mix yet, but that's slated for this weekend. I'll let ya know what I think!

Default Carb count?

Can someone tell me what the carb count is in the butter pecan flax-o-meal? It sounds yummy. I apologize in advance if it has already been given; I have been skimming around and may have missed that info. Can it be used in induction?!

Thanks!

IIRC (I don't have the package in front of me), it's 12g carbs with 10g of that as fiber, for an ECC (Effective Carb Count) of only TWO!

While you're on induction, even *this* kind of cereal is off-limits, sorry to say. You need to stick to the plan as it's outlined in whoever you're following (I'm mostly Atkins), but as soon as you are able to add carbs in whole-grain form.... go for it!

Default flax'n twigs huh

Just found this thread and have had a wonderful read! Am anxious to try the product but nearly $5 to ship $7 item is tough!

Any chance you are marketing this in other than virtual locations? I'd gladly drive to find it but hate the 100% shipping costs to try that first bag.

Hopeful and waiting in Southern Maryland

Pongie, you might want to ask the FlaxOmeal people direct, there's an 800 number on their website... and I think the website is in the www icon at the bottom of any one of Flaxie's posts above!

Good luck to you.

Talking opps

Judy...you're right, of course. We have gotten really product-specific on this thread. But I've learned a lot and find that this is one of the only low-carb products that seems to merit everyone's applause! Not only that but...goodness me....no hidden carbs anywhere.

Hi Y'all!
Flaxie here. (Julee) Sorry I haven't been around to answer your questions. We are moving into a bigger facility and things have been NUTS! I'll ask my partners about an economy size for the cereal. Seems like a great idea to me! The retail price did drop about $3.00, so I hope that helps some. All day long the phones are ringing with small stores purchasing cases of the cereal because a customer called and requested it. So, if you want it in your local health food store, just bug them to death! LOL It's in more walk in stores everyday thanks to our fans. And you know, it DOES remind me of Wheatena or whatever it's called. My grandma used to give that to me back in the day. (or was it Zoom??? :-) Anyway, thanks for all the support, y'all. It means so much to me.
Happy Lowcarbing!!!
Julee
