Another day of exactly the same!!!

HAPPY GROUNDHOG DAY!!!!

2 years ago today I started on Atkins!!!! I had been gearing up to it for a few months prior to my start day. I had registered on the Atkins site and ordered my start kit that summer, but Lord knows why I didn't start until February. I do remember getting my start kit with the 3 free bars, which I opened and ate immediately. After that, I never bought them. I knew I could never stop at one. Regardless, I decided to finally start on my diet on this day 2 years ago. I was certain I could lose weight, but I never imagined I would have stuck with it for so long!!! I KNOW that being on these boards and sites were the MAJOR motivation for me. Without the help of peoples like you, I probably would have given up. It took an entire month before I started seeing weight loss! That was because I was starting with the "new" version of 20 net carbs. I found that version impossible to follow with it's glut of vegetables. But when I started the original 1972 induction, I started seeing weight loss within a couple days. Here I am, 2 years later and 126 lbs lighter!!!!

I will try to get my official 2 year photo taken today, with a clean mirror. I hope the lighting is OK today. We are going to have a SNOWSTORM starting this morning. Up to 9" and very windy. So we are not leaving the house at all. Good day for picture day. My photo the other day was kind of a crappy one.

Because the day will be all snowy and blustery, I do not expect either of our 2 groundhogs to see their shadows, so maybe we will have an early spring?????

KATHY - congrats on the tiny loss!

BARB - congrats to you, too for the continued losses! Have fun at the big Groundhog Festival!!!!! I hope you have a cloudy day!!!

HIMI - Sorry for the little blip. I hope today lets you see the whoosh you are deserving!!!

CRICKET - Thanks for the fancy smancy Mabil Mobile! I like black because it is totally cool. Plain glossy black. With chrome. And dark gray leather seats. An excellent AC. And, of course, it must be a convertible!!!!

CHRISSIE - I hope you are able to hop out of this dang mobile and run around the park for a while! Good luck!

Yesterday I was hungry all day it seems. Even when I went to bed. I did not snack, so went to bed hungry. I was really hoping to see even a tiny loss, to no avail.

Today I will have those pork sausage patties I had been saving just for "ground" hog day. And possible a venison patty later on. About 1260 cals and 10 carbs today.

Never did get a check yesterday. Maybe today will be the lucky day!

PAULETTE~~~ HAPPY 2 year celebration! For that 126 pounds, I had the special order car remade for you!.CONVERTIBLE .DEEP BLACK extra gloss and soft grey leather interior. LOTS of double chrome trim and the insignia in script in small chrome Mabel Mobil" and another on the glove box 'made specially for Paulette" ..Will have to have one made every so often. the convertible tops leak when they get old! Looking forward to that picture!

I pulled another all nighter. woke at 11:30pm and went back to sleep at after 4:00am.got up at 6:00am. oy...snore..

THAT is a LOT OF SNOW!!!

NOW>>> any of you have the book CARB NITE SOLUTIONS and know about this? Chelle does this. Seems to be a legal alternative or addition for those near or at goal. Gives a meal a week off on High Carb and the rest very low carbs. I am going to check into this plan. It is looking to be like the carb cycling.
ATKINS RULES, so this would have to be the same except for meal off and that is a divided meal and about 6 hours before bedtime. If I go that right.

OH.. the rodent says early spring..but it is worng 61% of the time!!!

even near or at goal weight, I am not sure I could handle carb cycling of any kind.. afraid I would cycle right back to eating a whole bag of chips! But I know it works for some people, so if it might work for you, its worth a look!

Looks like everyone's bodies are taking a little pause from awesome losses ..... to regroup and ready themselves for a tidal wave of whooshies! Yeah, thats it. I'm going with that

OK. Here is the official 2 year anniversary photo. I tried to stand similar to last time. The lighting is a bit dull today due to snowy skies. And there was no cat by my (non-puffy!) feet this time.




HIMI - I like the way you think! Tidal waves!

CHRISSIE - It is way too crowded in my new mable mobile. You need to get on that slide soon!!!!

CRICKET - I have never heard of that particular book, but I will google it and see what I can find. Some day I would like to try the cycling thing, but I am afraid my BS will go up too high. The thing is, I really miss some particular foods! Little things that I would like to incorporate as occasional treats, such as POPCORN. I know I have the skills and strength now to be able to limit it to a reasonable serving. But the whole BS thing makes me think twice about it all. Other types of carbs, such as fruits and veggies, do not interest me at all. And sweets I can do without (they are too tempting to me and I cannot control them). Bread is not a desire of mine, either. Nor potatoes, rice, or pasta. But a little treat of popcorn now and then sure would make a GRAND difference to the ever increasing boringness of the things I eat. Maybe when I am closer to my goal, I may try it. Who knows? My BS may not rise as high as I feared? but then, maybe it will....

Our groundhog did not see his shadow! Yay! I am going to count down the days.

The carbs are higher but are from low glycemic foods so that should work for you. I will enjoy strawberries. For a while now, after the steroid fiasco months, I am finding it so hard to stay on track for more than the week or two. This may be the answer for me as in my old days. After a meal off I am fine for a good 10 days.The first 10 days are strick and like our plan but more carbs low glycemis. I have to read the book to see details but so far what Chelle said to start with is the same as us. I too like popcorn and it is not huge in carbs for what there is. BUT I still will not do triggers..for me it will be chinese food or Pizza nights. 6-8 hours before bedtime is crutial it seems. I would be better off with the pizza since i could have it in a few meals spread out. I would be more than satisfied. Only takes a few slices to get me over it all. Will have to check this out.
We have to learn how to live in the real world and that I have said since day one. No one can live at goal on the plan without having learned how to come on and off. I used to be bale to have a small tiny cup of ice cream and be happy. 2 potato chips! When you know you can have these things they become unimportant and doable. I do want to get to 130 again so we will see what happens here. I will be the guinnea pig
Yes I had a loss and do not know why. My wedding band is ready to fall off. Not hungry either. Have lots of heart burn though.
FOUND this: SUGAR FREE ANTACID.. tastes better than TUMS and THAT is made with corn starch!!! YOWSIR! This is made with sucralose the other TUMS is sucrose!!! WOW... I got the orange flavor since it was the only flavor and was so shoked it was GOOD! and CHEAP... got it at Walmart... Rx Docotr's choice I thnk was the name. And it works so even better!

So, ask me about the pet buzzard LMAO! This morning on the way out i saw Shadow with a huge buzzard! Wing spam bigger than 3 feet easily..Chased the dog away, tossed a towel over the almost dead from shock poor thing and put it in the dog pen. I was able to get to its feet and tucked the wings in place which was a great. Went to post office and returned in about 40 minutes and the bird was walking around the pen but one wing had draggy feathers..it kinda STROLLED around the pen. Showed no fear of me and watched me. It never spooked.Seemd to know I was helping it. so I left to shop.. bought extra chicken quarters ( 10 pounds for $4.97) and got a pack for the buzzard..and to my surprise, when I got home, it was gone! Flew the coop literally. No signs of it anyplace and no carcass so looks like it gained speed and height and got safely away. I feel so good about saving it. It was so dead looking..head under its chest and all limp. HAPPY ending for all but poor Shadow!

I kinda was looking forward to having that as a pet..way cool bird!and since it only eats dead stuff, Bonnie Bunnie would be safe AND if i got chicks, it would have been a great protection against the hawks!!!

CRICKET - A pet buzzard? How bizzarre! But I am happy he recuperated and flew the coop.

I did a little research on the Carb Nite Solution. It is an ultra low carb diet for 9 days, then a "carb nite" binge on the 10th night. It seems the "carb nites" are to be high glycemic, sugar/flour feeds. It is SUPPOSED to spike your insulin to get the rest of the hormones in gear!

I hope you can give it a try and see if it helps you. There seems to be a lot of people out there who swear by it. This could be dangerous for me. I would never be a good candidate for this theory of cycling.

RUTHIE BUZZARD must have walked through a hole. Jodi saw her walking around the berry grove. I found her in the woods where Shadow caught her and she ventually went to a great hiding place.BUT Ruthis is stupid. I saw her walking back to the grove. I tried to catch her to get her safe.I have huge kennel cages until i would have found the hole...but they RUN FAST!!! she was trying to fly and couldnot do more that lift and hop with the one wing. The dane and wolfie are ebing tied and confined until she is either gone or caught. I would feel horrible if one of my dogs caught her. She is really ugly but also sweet. She actuall walked towards me when i was talking to her..the she had a change of mind. She could have had some nice raw chop meat! Got a small tube of cheap stuff.85%fat!!!
OH WELL.
I agree the spikes would not be good, and i read all the same things. The plan is actually first 10 days are LC and the 11th is spike day and that is for first week only. After that it is 7 days on and one carb nite.. you can witch the night around if needed but hve to have 5 days between them. Sure sounds like a plan atkins had to a degree.
If I can do without veggies I am a happy camper!!! The carbs they call low are still 30 net. For us that is HIGH!

LOL... YES she is named after that wonderful funny lady.. she too was rather "plain" looking LOL! I hope i can get to her before a dog!

I am planning to follow that plan since it is so much the same including the once a week off plan as Dr Atkins' had mentioned in the book. I should have the book on Monday. I wonder what the food lists are like for he L.glycemic stuff. I know it is 30 NC of LG and I am really so interested in this for maitnence as well. But you know the old saying.. if it seems to good to be true, it probably is!
Now to update and then change the chart...
