hahaha on me! That's the point, no?

In all my LC years, I've never tried shirataki noodles. Never even thought of it. I think I won't add anything at this point. I've discovered that a small handful of pork rinds thrown into my chicken broth makes very nice "noodles." Limited usefulness, but tasty.

For the past year, the local LC Support group has been filmed on Periscope, but only stays on the Periscope account for 24 hours.
However, if it is also posted to a FB page, if remains permanently (mystery but whatever). The new moderator posts them to her page, and the Feb 2017 meeting is now there. https://www.facebook.com/ketocasey/...728234507327066

Dr Westman answers good beginner questions that come up often, there are no studies that prove CO or ketone supplements help weight loss, he does not use "macros" in the clinic, if you need to lose weight some of the fat should come from body stores, etc. All things he has said many times in the talks and course posted on DietDoctor, but if you want to see a basic in person support meeting (and accept that it is poorly videoed with a phone that cannot stay on faces ), you can now find them at the link above.

The Adapt company has been ramping up the low carb information on its website and FB page. Dr Westman just taped an explanation, yet again, why he doesn't use macros if the patient needs to lose weight, and the conflicting advice on Fat Consumption, fat to eat vs coming from body, etc.
This is a 10 minute "Ask Adapt" video. https://www.facebook.com/AdaptYourLife/?ref=ts&fref=ts
There was another 20 minute video answering similar questions a few weeks ago. This is a company to sell products (I have never used them, no plans to) but they are posting good, useful general Ketogenic diet info.

Great idea....I never thought of doing that with pork rinds, which I'm not really fond enough of to bother eating all on their own.

After a few months with no Pericope video, Dr. Westman's support group Videos are back. Now they will be posted on the HealClinic website. First try, not great quality, but will be better next month.
Since it was January many questions about the plan, keeping it simple, why he doesn't use macros, etc. https://www.facebook.com/HEALclinic...hc_location=ufi

To contrast that to a High Quality video Production, DietDoctor has a new Keto for Beginners video course. The first part posted today has cameo appearances by Dr. Westman, Kristi, and others we know. 8 minute video: https://www.dietdoctor.com/keto-course

A new video interview with Dr Westman on DD, sign up for membership to see the whole half hour. (Membership can be cancelled anytime). https://www.dietdoctor.com/video/in...utoplay=1667056

The interview was supposed to be geared to helping doctors use LC with their patients, but much of the interview ended up being about how he teaches it and the plan used so useful for anyone to hear this.
Under the transcript, there is a link to the Duke Lifestyle Clinic Plan, discussed in the interview, as found in the back of Why We Get Fat.
https://www.dietdoctor.com/se/wp-co...starch_diet.pdf

The Heal Clinic is now sponsoring the monthly meeting on first Tuesdays and placing a recording of it on their FB page, HEAL Clinics. Meeting was last night, should be up later today. One of the new Heal health coaches, Amber, is now moderating the meetings. Better sound and video each try

The monthly meetings continue to be posted on the Heal FB page. https://www.facebook.com/pg/HEALcli...f=page_internal On the Adapt Your Life FB page, there are over a hundred videos with Dr. Westman answering questions about his low carb research and plan. https://www.facebook.com/pg/AdaptYo...f=page_internal

In the past few months he has also been describing patient success stories with different challenges. Today, the patient wanted to be filmed and tell her own story...she lost 50 pounds as a paraplegic confined to a wheelchair. A LC diet works without exercise.

https://www.facebook.com/AdaptYourL...44902309487328/

For everyone who loses 50 pounds. Dr. Westman plays your requested song on the piano with the clinic staff singing...this one is so appropriate.

Thanks for adding that...The Adapt videos are there as well! Over a hundred videos and they add a new one every week. Adapt Your Life is hosting great one day events and sharing free information.
Newest video is an excellent interview conducted by Dr. Eric Westman with the BMX athlete Josh Perry.

Josh Perry's story is touching and faced with adversity that would have brought many to their knees, Josh's focus on taking positive actions and refusing to follow conventional recommendations is inspiring. His willingness to give back and share what he's learned is an example of one who is living a full and loving life. Much respect.

Gary Taubes gave a big shout-out to Dr. Eric Westman during his keynote luncheon talk at the OSU LC conference. All 22 talks here: https://forum.lowcarber.org/showthread.php?p=9303823

Gary's new book is about doctors who have been using LC with actual clinic patients, and Dr. Westman has the most experience with 20 years treating patients. The Eades are still active in LC but not practice. Anyway, this is the Dr. Westman quote he used in the Speech:

Quote:
The Key to Success

If you do this, it will work. But I can’t make you do it.
Word on the street is, I’m too strict, but maybe strict is the answer.

Strict is the answer. 20 g total carbs. The rest of the clinic guidelines are extras.

But just to be clear about the second biggest concern "What should my Fat Intake be on a Keto Diet?" Adapt has posted a brand new video on this topic, similar to an earlier one....but with a better photo on the office wall

Strict is what worked for me. It was my answer, for sure. When I watch the carb count like a hawk everyday, I'm successful. When I get wishy-washy and loose with the carbs life becomes more difficult. I recently printed off Dr. Westman's page 4 food list. I needed a refresher course on staying strict.

Funny, after reading the recent posts on this thread, I referred to Dr. Westman's small book, A Low Carbohydrate, Ketogenic Diet Manual, No Sugar, No Starch Diet. It's one of the most succinct and valuable guidelines to help keep those who are strict low carb, keto on track. The List of Permitted Foods is simple and easy to follow, and if you remain strict in adherence, good things happen.

As I look at my efforts to encourage others to go low carb, a simple straightforward program is the best starting point. Reading a full book like DANDR is not of interest.
